Sounds like fan limit switch/fan timer

This will cause the main burner to run untill the over tempreture switch is tripped therefore shuting gas supply and running fan on high till over heat condition is resolved then it will restart burner and repeat
continuing to run heater like this will cause heat exchanger split.

Tip

When the furnace blower runs all the time.

Usually when the furnace blower motor runs all the time
The limit switch or rollout switch is usually open or bad.
The furnace board is seeing that one of those switches is open, so it brings the blower on to try to get the heat out of the combustion chamber area, so the switch will close. But if the switch is bad and won’t close, the furnace board will keep the blower running continuously.
Make sure the fan switch on the thermostat is not in the "ON" position it should be in the "AUTO" position.

I have a rheem elec furnace and the fan won t stop running after reaching call for temperture, what can be the problem and is it an easy fix?. thank you

Hello, usually when the blower runs continously it is a problem with the relay on the intergrated control board, when the relay sticks the blower will keep running. The problem is the relay can't be replaced on the board, the whole board must be replaced.

Ruud IFC Furnace Blower comes on and stays running, never lites

Check on the circuit board for an automotive type fuse that is probably blown. These fuses blow because of a short in the control wiring. If the fuse is blown a lot of furnaces run the fan all the time as a diagnostic. You will have to find the short or it will just blow again.
