Question about Acer Aspire 5610 Notebook

1 Answer

Aborted power up

My notebook will start to power up, the fan will run for a second or two and then it turns off. Pulled HD, tried on AC, DC...same results. Got any ideas?

Toshiba A205-S5809 Wont power on

Try another cord/charger with the EXACT same power specs. If you have a multimeter, verify DC voltage at the AC jack plug. If the AC jack, in the laptop, has been pulled, damaged, it's may have a loose connection. You didn' say if ANY LED's, battery charge, work? If the battery is charged and it doesn't start on battery only, then you have other issues. It may need a ride to a Qualified Computer Tech.

Hi,

Im very sorry to hear that, please follow these simple steps for you to be able to isolate the exact problem.

1. Removed the battery.
2. Connect the laptop directly to the power outlet without using the battery just for the meantime.
3. Turn on the laptop. If the laptop is able to power on, that means that the AC adapter is working fine as well as the DC port. If the laptop is not able to turn on, it maybe the AC adapter itself or the DC port.
4. Try to use another AC adapter if possible, make sure that that AC adapter is working fine. If the laptop is still not turning on, the problem is with the DC port itself. In that case, you will need to replaced the Motherboard itself.

Hope this will help...Thank you for using Fixya...

Boot problem

When you first press the power button do the fans start running. If not, then it could be that the fans aren't working properly and as a safety feature the computer shuts-off to keep from over heating. Also, try turning on the laptop without the battery in but with it plugged into the AC Adapter. If it doesn't even attempt to turn on when you press the power button, then the problem could be that either your AC adapter or your DC Jack on the motherboard have gone bad. Which results in your battery not charging up, so when you try to turn on your laptop the battery has only enough "juice" to make an attempt at booting up, and then shuts off from lack of power. Please leave feedback and a rating vote on the info I've supplied you with.

Hi,

Take out the battery and try booting the machine on AC power only. If the machine boots up then let the operating system load up, the shut it down. Remove the AC jack and put the battery back in again, then power it up.

If it boots all is well if it doesn't then there could be a problem with the battery.

If the laptop won't start on AC power, what you could do is remove the system memory, clean the brass pins and the slots and then re-seat them/it.

Then try to turn the machine on.

Good luck.

try this with just the ac plugged in and the battery removed. Sometimes the battery, when fully discharged, can cause the system to shut down.
