I experienced a slight light flicker, and then my TV went out. I tried other power surge protectors and outlets, but nothing works. The two other appliances plugged into the strip work fine. Please help!

Are you sure you seen all the fuses on all of the boards, (they are numerous, and hard to spot, not like fuses you are used to looking for.) if so then your power supply is at fault and must be replaced.

Which circuit board on my Smart TV might be broken after a possible lightning strike. There are two main ones. The power is getting to the unit, but I can't get the menus, connections etc to work.

Nobody can predict, what might have been happened to your TV after a lightning strike. Do you thing anybody can? Is any technician have a super-natural power to predict the faults that might have been happened due to lightning (More than 10 Million volts to start on stroke) ? Can you?
Sorry.

Will a nearby lightning strike cause a power board failure?

It could happen yes it would depend where the strike entered the TV. Not all lighting strikes hit on the electrical lines, on a TV they can come through the cable, as well as a antenna if you have one hooked up.

No picture or sound after lightning strike. tv was not connected to syrge protector.

I had the same problem. If you open it up and locate the power supply you will see two 8A 250v fast acting fuses. One or both may have blown. Replace them and see what happens. Cost about $3. Good luck

If you are certain you have a lightning surge, almost anything can take down your TV. First check the obvious, do you have power coming out of the wall. Is the surge protector good, if you used one? If you have answered yes to the these questions, you may have acquired a power surge in your TV. You may not find it in your TV. As I have said it may be anywhere in the TV. You will need to take this TV to an authorized service center. It would be difficult for anyone out side a technician to find the problem. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

Killed by lightning, have power, no picture...

The warranty does not cover lightning, check if your insurance covers it.
A lightning strike on such panel ( HDMI ) is very difficult to repair and if not impossible. The HDMI connector is hooked to the ground of the TV set so everything could be damaged.
My advice is not to repair.
