plug your psp to your computer. go to My Computer and look for it. then look for video file. watch thisyoutube movie, then download that and convert any movie to psp mpg using these software. drag/copy and drop/paste the video you converted into the psp video file http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwcFGTcfxHQ
it sounds like you have bricked your psp there are ways around this but its to do with changing settings and adding a recovery program to your psp (in other words hacking) but i aint the expert on this but if you search it up on youtube you can find some great videos that people have uploaded with the same problem as you and they show you how to get around your problem, im stuck with a problem with a region code not been correct and i dont know if i need to use the recovery program to help me through it.

I dont have ps3, but are you trying to connect thru wifi? if you have a usb cable, i always found it best to download the update off the psp website and transfer it to your psp, then run the update off it. that would be my suggestion, i think you can also connect your psp to your ps3 (lucky bugger) thru usb aswell, so thats what i suggest you do.
