Gradual diming of screen over the past month.

Gradual dimming of screen over the past month. Longer start up of time of total illumination of screen. Now black screen but the green light is on . Is it a bulb or inverter gone bad? The lcd monitor is a E173Fpf flat panel Dell. How do I know which problem it is and how do I open it with the speakers connected on the bottom front and locked in place? I can get the front panel off but cannot get to the the inverter board that way.

The SPEAKER bar has two fingers on it, you slide out the speaker, I do not remember to slide it to the left or to the right, also for release tab to allow you to slide the speaker out.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed DELL monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Screen goes dim seconds after opening can’t make out what’s on it

wow a real computers question
but no PC stated. make nor model.
desktop or laptop
what OS do you run.
if a laptop,(why must I guess?)
ALL or most laptops dime for these reasons. (all)
1: the room is dark and the auto dim is turned on.
2: the laptop battery is bad or weak and it auto dims the screen to extend the run time, dim uses less power.
3: the LCD is dimmed in the control panel ."brightness wrong"
4: the LCD back lamps on all PC <=2010 all are dim now.
both monitors and laptops that old or older, are doomed.

How do you fix a corrupted bios?

I don't think it's corrupt bios, maybe a virus or malware.
But if you can go to the computers maker website and download bios and install them the way they tell you to install them.

The computer screen is totally black

If your laptop is an older one, there is the possibility that the fluorescent backlight has burned out. After it boots up, look very hard at the screen, even altering your view to gaze at it from a slight angle. You may just be able to see the screen images in outline. Most people don't understand the the LCD screen itself is not illuminated, it is backlit very much like an old-time slide projector. You could get the unit serviced, but it would almost be cheaper to buy a new laptop. Get one with LED backlighting. It will last longer.

My HP Dv 6000 Laptop Battery suddenly stopped working with out any gradual symptoms . Can some body explain the possibility ?

Not trying to be too technical but lithium ion batteries last longer than Ni Cad.
Ni Cad have a memory effect and if one charges them before they are totally flat, a portion of what was left is lost and a gradual decline takes place.
With Lithium Ion, they have characteristics similar to lead acid cells and as such tend to grow "fingers" across the cells stopping the chemical reaction and one day, usually after another of the far too many charges, the cell collapses.
Hope that explains it.
