The hot water heater may have sludge built up in it. drain a few gallons from hot water tank and see if this makes a difference. you should drain a few gallons fom tank at least 2 times a year, to keep the sludge from building up. ( is the tank big enough for the job)

Could my grohe thermostatic shower be letting cold water into my system? Some other taps run cool but the shower is running OK temperature

If you have single handle facute one bad cartridge in the system may be acting like a mixing valve and allowing cold water to mix with hot not allowing water to get hot enough .

Hot water varies

I do not know how old this unit is or what model but many water heaters are not sophisticated enough to measure the temperature, but heat based on water flow and temperature rise. To start, tankless water heaters turn off every time you turn the hot water off. Lets use an example. You use the facilities, wash your hands then turned off the water and take a shower. You will bring the already heated water (from washing your hands) from the pipe up to the shower. Then the cold water that comes into the pipe from the reactivation of the water heater comes up the hot water pipe with warm then hot water just behind.

If this is not your problem, keep reading. Every unit I have been called to see were installed wrong. Check your installation manual to see if the problem with the system started with the contractor.

First, check the temperature of the water from the heater. If it is too hot and you are mixing too much cold water in, the unit will turn off because there is not enough water flow to keep it running.

Second, turn off the valve at the water heater and turn on the hot water at a faucet. If the water does not stop running, there is a "plumbing cross over" usually caused by a failing pressure balance valve in a shower.

Third, if the unit has not been serviced, go to bosch-climate.us to find a tankless water heating professional in your area. Totally Tankless LLC

Why is there no hot water from shower overheat light on all the time .

The water heater has detected that it failed to shut off when the water reached the temperature set on the thermostat,

In order to prevent the water from boiling and causing the heater to burst from increased pressure, the high temperature limit switch operated and shut the power off. It left an indicator on so that you would know that water would not longer be heated. The water in the tank cooled and will remain cool until the switch is reset.

If there is a problem with the thermostat, this cycle will repeat until you have the defective part(s) removed and replaced.

Good luck!

My Grohe Aquatower 3000 shower is wonderful BUT after 5 or 6 minutes, the water starts cooling off. Is there some adjustment to keep the water warmer for 10-15 minutes?

You are lucky that your shower is lasting as long as it does. If you have a standard 40 or 50 gallon water heater, mixed with 30% cold water as it comes out, you can expect about 60 gallons of hot water, give or take a little bit. Each of those showerheads on that Aquatower is rated at 2.5 gpm. Even if you are just using the body sprays, you could be using 10 gallons of water EACH MINUTE. There is really only two things you can do, and that is to raise the temperature of your hot water heater by 5-10 degrees so you are mixing more cold water with the hot. The other thing is to buy a bigger hot water heater, or supplement the one you have with another water heater in series.

Water temperature cools when using the shower

sounds like you are running low on hot water then? You may have an older water heater that's full of sediment which would need flushing or, try turning up the temperature control. Either way, I always recommend a water heater blanket to hold the hot in

What is the normal water temperature accuracy of a setting?

You are correct, the pipes have been used and they retain the warmer temp and thus they don't cool the water by the time it gets to the faucet.

Not enough hot water, has to do with a shower valve

Hello, first if any water supply hot or cold is turned off, you will experience trickling as you mention. You must have both cold and hot in order to adjust the temperature on your valve. if you had a plumber intall this unit you should ask him to adjust it. Otherwise here is how:
Rotate the handle counterclockwise to stop and let water run till cold water is purged, check
temperature. Rotate handle to off, remove handle parts (see Disassembly in your manual) and temperature limit stop, rotate clockwise to decrease and counterclockwise to increase maximum hot water temperature, reinstall temperature limit stop and handle (TIP: Do not screw handle in until desired maximum temperature is achieved) Repeat steps until desired maximum
temperature is achieved

Water temperature varies while useing the hot water during a normal shower. jg

Try this before replacing the shower diverter valve.

If this problem is isolated to the shower only, then I would suggest that the shower diverter valve is equipped with an "Anti-scald" safety feature that can not be adjusted, however the temperature regulator/thermostat on the water heater can be adjusted to a lower temperature so as to not activate the the "Anti-scald".
