SOURCE: my roomba starts going backwards

I turned my shop vac onto "blow" and blasted my roomba with this problem. It worked!!! I had already cleaned it thoroughly, but it needed to be blown out. My only regret is that I did it in my shop, rather than outside. It was pretty dusty.

Thanks again for the tip. Saved me $100+

SOURCE: Dont move forward.

Blow out the unit with compressed air, particularly around the wheels and under the bumper. Tap the bumper with your hand.

If your Roomba stops and beeps at you, count the beeps AFTER the initial "uh-oh" tone. Then call customer support (1-877-855-8593) for assistance.

Good luck.

SOURCE: backs up spins in circles, then red light flashes and beeps

Sounds like either the battery is bad or not being charged properly with subsequent loss of programming.

SOURCE: Roomba circles

Yes, this is known issue and if your bumper moves freely, you might be facing a sensor fault caused by poor quality of components.
Here is a guide to fix it

Moves in circles and backwards, though will not move forward

Sounds like your bumper switch is stuck. try pulling on the bumper to free it, then clear any obstructions you find.

My roomba 580 runs perfectly for 10 minutes then stops dead without returning to the charger and without the usual beep to notify you of an error

seems like a battery fault.
can you start it after it stops?
how old is it?
try reset and deep charge it
hope that helps

I have the irobot roomba and the battery does not hardly hold a charge and now it won't go forward just backwards and around

The Roomba has a rechargable Battery. The Roomba battery like any battery will eventually ware out after so many charges and discharges. Mine lasted about three years and then is would hardly hold a charge. I purchased a new battery and then it worked fine after that.

As for not going forward. That is usually due to a dirty bumper sensor. You have to take the Roomba apart for cleaning that. You can take it to Sears and they will do it for you.

My Roomba is moving real slow and turns very often then turns itself off after a few minutes. I have a new battery.

There's a chart in the back of your manual that lists the beep codes. If it says "contact customer support" under the "troubleshooting" section, call 1-877-855-8593. We'll be able to diagnose the problem based on the beep code and hopefully get your Roomba up and running again!

(Can't find your manual? Visit http://homesupport.irobot.com and search for "beeps" after selecting the correct Roomba category.)

When I push the clean button. (roomba discovery) it just makes a 'quack' sound and doesn't move.

the battery on your roomba is dead, try charging it for 16 hours, after that if it still does not work. you need to replace the battery.

Roomba going backwards

I had the same kind of problem with my model 400 today...after starting it and having it go in a circle for 30 seconds or so it would finally run into something and then back up a few inches, turn, then go forward a few inches, then back up a few inches, turn, then go forward a few inches, etc., etc.. I tried cleaning off the four pairs of sensors under the bumper and blowing out various things underneath (by mouth since I didn't have any canned compressed air). It didn't really help. It then occurred to me that I had a leaf blower! I put the Roomba upside down on the grass, put the leaf blower on high, and blew at it from all directions and up close. More dust came out than I thought would. It has been running normally now for the last 45 minutes.
