Problem in formatting disk

Formatting is used to erase yourhard drive. Many times, this is used to clean a hard drive after a virus or toperform a completely clean installation of a new operating system. A Compaqlaptop can be easily formatted, but formatting will only solve system problems,not hardware problems. The process should only be used to solve problems as alast resort, since it will erase all of your data.
1. Back up all data before performingthe format (if possible).2. Insertthe operating system disk and restart your computer and wait until prompt fromthe system.3. The Hiren CD is a tool and you correctly formatted your hard disk, but Hiren CD does not install Windows on your hard disk. You need the Windows installation CD and the Windows installation product code to install a fresh installation on your hard disk.
The Windows version that was installed on your computer and the installation product code is on a Windows label that should be attached to the back of your computer.
If you don't have a Windows installation CD then contact Compaq/HP for a copy.

with what operating system?

There are two ways...

(1) take the hard drive out and connect it to another computer, right click on the drive, and click format

(2) You need a windows or other operating system disk....just start it like you were going to install windows, and select advanced disk options (it's a link, easy to overlook but it's always there)

You can not format a disk with a running operating system on it.

There are other "bootable" disks you can also format the hard drive with...an Acronis Backup boot disk, probably a Norton Ghost boot disk....things like that...not all bootable CDs, but usually a backup or disk imaging program will allow you to format a hard drive

please go to manage and go to disk managment here u must do the format and restart you wil solve this problem.........

BEST SOLUTION FOR UNREADABLE DISK IS TO FORMAT IT USING THIS WONDERFUL TOOL, I GOT SOLVED MY PROBLEM, TRY IT .

Your pendrive is infected with Autorun.inf virus
to remove this virus install malwarebytes (It is antimalware software)and scan your whole computer as well as your pendrive when you scaning finish remove all threats

IF the above method is not work

Try to format in other operating system like windows vista or in windows 7 because in vista and 7 you can force format your pendrive

Just format the drive by left clicking on the same icon and selecting format drive.

low-lable format can solve ur problem.
at first create windows98 startup disk from any win98 pc or use windows98 bootable cd. and download disk manage 9.54 for samsung hard disk. and copy it in a cd. then boot ur pc with windows98 bootable disc or startup disk. then inseart disk manager cd go to cd rom drive give "dm" commnad. run low lable format form advance --->utility ----->maintanance------> low lable format. after complete low lable format (it can take saveral time) then creat partition and format each partion.

If I understand you right, all you want to do is to successfully complete the format of a 4Gb Jet Flash/Transcend Flash Drive. You were unable to complete it using the Windows built-in format function. Further you can not access, read from or write to the said flash drive.

May I suggest you to use HP Drive Key Boot Utility instead of the Windows built-in format command.
