4 Answers

Flashing lights I own a duracell CEF90NC 30 Minute Charger with 4 AA NiMH Rechargeable Batteries. I put the batteries into the charger last night the fan refused to start and continue to run and the indicator lights on the face of the face of the charger are flashing. What is going on?

I get the same results when I try to charge any battery OTHER than the ones that came with the charger.

I have the same problem...............seems to be inherant.

Same problem here. Using the batteries that came with the charger. Worked fine until a few days ago. Now when I put them in, the lights go solid for about 30 seconds and then start flashing and the batteries don't charge.

I have a similar problem. If I place 2 out of 4 batteries in the charger the the lights will flash red but as soon as I add a 3rd and a 4th battery all the lights go out and nothing happens. I am using Duracell recharger batteries. What gives?

flashing lights. But it seems that no one knows how to solve this. Maybe mine is just old. We've had it longer than our camera -- nearly four years now.

I have the same problem. I've had the batteries for two years. They are the ones that came with the charger. I guess they're just dead...

I have the same problem. As soon as I put any battery in the third slot, the light blinks. Mine runs and shuts off, but the batteries never charge. Very frustrating!

I have the same problem, but two were sony camera batteries and 2 were duracell. Needed to charge the same brand together and it seems to work. Guess we will see, also only put them in the middle two slots- no flashing lights yet.

I had the same problem. 1 of four way's can fix it. #1 Put a batt. that has a little charge in that flashing spot 1st. and see if that works. #2 put the batt. in that flashing slot first and then in the 1st slot, If that did'nt work, #3 Put Batt. in backwards for 1 sec. in and out fast. and I do say very fast, In that flashing spot. #4 buy a new one. The one that fixed mine was #1 and it stoppppped flashing, The order I put them in was - 3-1-2-4 I put in #3 batt. first, it was the one flashing And it worked, You may have a bad batt. or it's on it's way out, but try It. worked for me!

Best bet seems to be 2 batteries at a time, in slots 1 and 3. Kind of a pain, esp. when you have just purchased new batteries. I always keep a few lithium batteries in my photo bag, to make sure I'm covered.

I was having the same problem right now, and checked this site. I started to think there may be some incompatibilty in the 4 batteries I put in. They were all AA/HR6/DC1500 NiMH/1.2V, but 2 were 2400mAh, and the other 2 were 2600mAh. I took the two 2600mAh out, and the light went from flashing to solid red. I think it is charging now. I will put the other 2 matching batteries in when it is done, and see if they charge. They must have to be 100% the same type of battery or it errors out with a flashing red light.

Good Luck!

I found out after only putting 100% matching batteries, that was not the problem. It turns out I had 1 dead battery that was stopping all from charging. If you take out one at a time, you will find the bad batteries. Only all good batteries will charge together.

You broke it. there is no fix.
The batteries you put in it that blew were resisting the charge and fighting with the unit and most likely burnt up some electronics inside the charger.
I would not use it at all or even try to use it. You may cause a fire or get zapped.

When I insert some batteries the red light begins blinking. I also have some Duracells that appear to be charging but when I place them in the appliance they are dead.

All chargers cannot charge all types of batteries. Are your Duracell batteries NiMH or Alkaline? These indications generally happen when you insert a battery type that is not rechargeable.
