Question about HP Pavilion dv1000 Notebook
When try to boot it up , some times it boots but if i put my finger near the mouse pad it will shut down but with all lights still on
it is pavilion DV1659us
Hook up a extrenal mouse and see if it still does it. If not, get into windows and check your power save options and make sure its not going into standby. Windows defaults to Three minutes on laptops and it may be going into standby.
If it blanks out with all the lights still on, try pressing the power button once and see if it comes on to where it was before. If it does, its going into power save.
These options are in the display settings which you find by right clicking on the desktop and selecting properties in the little box, it will open a box with tabs. click on the screensaver tab and at the bottom it has a button for power options, click it and change settings accordingly, also make sure the screen saver isnt set to come on after like a minute, usually you want it for 5-10 for a laptop and you only want power save options set for when its on battery power.
Also make sure that it doesnt have it set to go into standby when you close the lid.
