Question about Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 (cdrvlpe6101250) for PC

CANNOT INITIALIZE API - REINSTALL THE SOFTWARE

I´m user of Roxio Products since it was named ADAPTEC (around 1998) and I have all the original versions of Easy CD Creator, Easy CD and DVD Creator and also Easy Media Creator 7.0 installed in a XP based machine. This matter concerns to EZCD 6.0 which is installed in a Pentium III 750 machine running W98 Second Edition and 1GB of RAM. No troubles until two days ago when the subject message first appears. No changes have been made in the machine, no new softwares installed, no viruses or trojans, very clean register, WMPlayer 9.0 installed for a long time, just a few programs running because this machine is used only and solely for NLE jobs (Creation of Home Videos). Tried to update version 6.XXX to the version suggested by Roxio but problem still exists (only when attempt to run Creator Classic). I have reinstalled software (original) but problem continues. Have removed the software and installed the old version (EZCD Creator 5.0) but problem also continues too. I have burned one DVD last week as I do always with no problems. Could you suggest anything please? I have many cd´s and dvd´s to burn, because is time to update my backups but cannot initialize the engine. Thank you for any suggestion!

    Dear friend,

I have attempted to fix the problem with EZCD 6.0 for many days and decided to migrate to Windows XP Professional Edition. My PC consist of a PIII 750MHz, 1GB SDRAM 133, MB Asus P3V4X, Miro DC-30Pro Capture Card, one HD for the OS and softwares, one HD for data and one 10.000 rpm SCSI HD controlled by Adaptec 19160 for the capture of video. I use Première 5.1c for edditing, Holywood FX for effects, Title Deko for titles and TMPG 2.5 for encoding thru Avisynth Frame Server. Also have original CD of Roxio Media Creator 7.0 for XP and updates. Do you recomend this migration in order to solve the problem? I found out that DC-30Pro works very well in XP, except that will not be possible to export to video thru DC30. In the other hand, i will not face the limitation of 2GB files. Nowadays I no longer export to video, due to the encoding to MPEG2 and DVD burning. Based on your own experience with hardwares, do you think that my hardware will work well on XP? Thanks again!

When you installed the 5.0 in, did you put the update in also?

ecdc_v53.5.10 basic_enu

You will need this or 5.0 will not run.

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error when starting Roxio creator

Hi.

I have had several questions from users getting Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library errors when starting Roxio Creator 2010 and previous versions.
After the error prompt, the software will close down.

The problem is caused by a system error , and this sometimes is causedby Microsoft self installing update, that confuse settings of installedsoftware.

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libraries are part of the operativesystem, and this kind of Run time errors are commonly caused whenapplications try to access resources that are allocated for otherprocesses.

A new Roxio installation did not fix the problem, because the newinstallation will still keep the registry settings from oldinstallation.

If the problem started recently you can try the following:

Uninstall Roxio.
Do a System Restore to a date before the problem started.
Reinstall Roxio.

See: How to install System restore.

If that does not fix the problem you can also try the following;

Uninstall Roxio
Create a new user with administrator privileges
Log in using the New User account
Install Roxio again.

If the problem was bound to local user settings, this will fix the problem.

If the problem is still there, then the most efficient way to proceedis by doing a new Windows installation, using a Windows setup disk or arecovery disk for your computer.
Do a full backup of your data before reinstalling Windows.

See:Install, reinstall, or uninstall Windows

The solution does not apply only to Roxio, but can fix the same problem on different software.

Regards.

Since Roxio will not aknowledge this issue, I am using Publisher to create my CD jewel cases. I am also using other software programs as work arounds for other Roxio issues that I have. Roxio has really gone down hill since version 7! After being a Roxio user for many years (and several versions), I will no longer encourage others to buy this product.
