Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

1 Answer

PS3 Problem In the middle of a game the controller stops working. The console does not detect this disconnect and you have to restart the console to get it to reconnect. This is happening alot and with both of my controllers.

I have exactly the same problem. however also happens with my guitar hero guitar controllers (both of them), so I think that it is unlikely that I have dropped or thrown all of my controllers, I am very careful with my gadgets!

My controllers seem to disconnect from the system. It happens with both controllers. when one stops, you can't connect the other either. It is like the system won't recognize either, and you have to restart the system.

Your controller has been thrown or dropped one to many times. I had the problem after throwing mine.

Hi,

You can try these steps to connect your controller to your PS3.

1. Press the tiny Reset Button on the back of the controller

2. Plug in the USB Connection wire

3. Restart Console

4. When loaded, Press the PS Button

5. Disconnect the USB wire

Then it should have recognised the controller and auto-assigned, hope this works for you

PS3 controller disconnects while playing games or watching DVD's. Have tried leaving it plugged into the usb port all the time - still disconnects. I then have to reboot the console to get the controller...

Check the controller settings under,

SETTINGS, Powe Save Settings, Controller Auto-Off

If that doesn't work try performing a hard reset on the controller like this:

Flip the controller over, and press the reset button. It's to the right of the middle-top screw ps3_controller_reset.jpg. You'll need something like a paperclip, toothpick, or something similar to push the button. Once you've reset your controller, connect it to your PS3 with a handy USB cable, and press the PS button (just like you did when you first got the controller). Now, it is paired again, and you should be OK.

Let me know what happens.

System restart in the middle of games

2.16? You know its up to 2.60? Try updating it again.

If you have trouble updating it, download the 2.60 update from http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3 and put it on a memorystick of any kind. Insert the memory stick into the PS3 (with newer PS3's you'll need a usb drive) The site will tell you how to make the folder the PS3 will read from.

You can use the service recovery menu by turning your PS3 off then holding the power button while turning it on till you hear two beeps, your PS3 controller cannot be pluged in while you do this. It will bring up a screen telling you to connect the PS3 controller, once you do that go to the system update and update it.

My PS3 keeps losing its signal between console and controller (it normally takes about 30mins) but either way it loses the signal and the only way to sort it out is to turn the PS3 off at the socket and...

I've had the same problem before, i believe what you have to do is.. recalibrate the controller, that helped, but i don't know if it'll work for you, now i don't have a bluetooth, so i couldn't help you with that.. also, it would help for you to turn off the controller during the movie.. or not interacting with the system as far as playing games..
