Inside the door, on the right panel right there in plain sight. It has a red indicator light, with a blue switch, the words its in the on position, but blinks red, and all our ice is gone in the bucket that sits on the door. I noticed this two days ago. Tried resetting it (if thats possible) by holding it in the off position for 30 sec or so, but to no avail. Also, this seemed to happen when we moved the fridge out to remove wallpaper from the wall but I did a visual inspection and saw no kinks. Model # ksru22fkwhq1 ser SL4943484 manuf date 12/01

tech 17, does it matter that I heard some water pouring slowly (not dripping) into the drip pan or is that normal? I seem to remember it doing that one other time before but the ice was fine. martha-vila

We took the backerboard off, cleaned the many dustmites and huge cache of doghair out, and after my husband taking the ice door and motor housing out and resituating it, it looks like it may have been just a case of that sensor mechanism not being able to work from an obstruction of some kind. He said it looked like it wasnt setting level and he repositioned it. Who knew it could be something so dumb. Anyway, I think its fixed now, we listened and the water refilled, the light has gone off and the thing even breathes better! The fan seems to really blow now!! I think it may have done wonders to just clean the darned thing!! Anyway, we thank you very much for your help and will give you an extra high rating for your time and expertise (and the manual you sent)! Thanks again! Martha-vila

Tech 17, I may have spoken too soon. I just checked and that stupid red light is back on, still blinking. If by chance, I need to replace different components, where do you suggest I buy them from? Is there a parts supplier that you like? I havent tried unscrewing the little doors and checking in there to see what the component looks like. Also, at one of our other homes, we had like a hard water build up in the copper supply line before. Could it be this? I swore I heard it refill when we first "thought" we fixed it. I am going to put this to rest for now, check for ice in the morning and give you an update tomorrow. Sorry.

  • martha-vila Mar 31, 2008

Hello not one piece of ice the next morning...I guess I need to keep looking...we could not figure out the barrel/supply hose thing on the back. There is one long plastic hose taped to the back, and one continuous copper pipe all coiled up. Do you think the fittings on that could be corroded? the fridge came with the house and it appears they did NOTHING to service it, otherwise it would have been cleaner underneath.

I have model # KSRG25FKSS05 MFG 10/03 that stopped producing ice. The water still works but the ice maker is not calling for water. I replaced the water inlet valve thinking that was the problem but it did not resolve the issue. The water line from the valve to the bearing cup assembly is clear as I can blow air through it. The ice maker control on the right hand side of the freezer is not blinking unless I put my finger on the sensor and then it will blink re twice and then pause and repeat. Any suggestions?

I have model # kscs25inss01 that stopped producing ice. The water still works

  • bpaal Feb 26, 2009

Kitchenaid KSCS25INSS00 side-by-side. It is not making ice. When the door is open, the led blinks red. I'm not sure what it means. I've taken everything out of the freezer and let it warm up by leaving the door open - hoping if something was frozen, it thawed. The door is now closed and cooling. Can anyone tell me what the flashing red light means?

the best thing to do in your case is to send you the test procedures as there could be several things wrong with your ice maker its too large for this site to send so if you send me an e mail at ill help you can hold my rating for now till we fix it ok

I had a blinking light, two flashes then pause, I did two things, not sure which worked, blow dryer to the black tube, and took a Q-tip to the sensor eyes (on both side of the walls), after a few minutes of trial and error, the light went out and I heard the water from the fridge, so hoping this would solve the ice maker issue!

that's probably from the defrost system and its normal you can take the fill tube loose from the back at the connector and blow through it if air don't go through water wont yours was made in 2001 in 2002 they revised the beam that you see blinking but to save money you need to test all the systems to nail it could be a bad ice maker motor module could be a bad water valve could be a frozen tube could be the infrared lites are bad but you have the procedures and for what service tech seem to be charging now days it will be worth the effort we can do this im here for you i had a lady that paid a person 300 to fix her wall oven he pulled it out could fix it told her he had to call and get some help from tech service and just left it sitting in her kitchen we fixed it in a day for free read the manuel i sent with a cup of coffee and ask me if you need to know

  • robert samples Mar 30, 2008

now on that water tube connector at the back of the unit it looks like a little barrel at the top of the connector is a brown piece push the clear tube down into the connector and with your thumbnail hold the brown part down then pull the clear tube out to reconnect just push it back in

I'm having the same problem, but a service tech on another board said that the blinking red light is actually a good sign, it just shows that the infrared is working and is looking for its signal

Ice maker is not making ice

Even though the water dispenser is OK you need to make sure the tray(s) in the ice maker are filling. The filter valve, located to the rear of the ice maker can freeze over and stop water flow. Check the supply line for the ice maker, it may be separate from the water dispenser.

Ice maker will not make ice. Red light blinks

I have a kitchenaid with the same problem. Red light blinks twice when open is normal. Hold the flap down and the red light will be on.= normal= optics are working. If the ice rakes rotate, module is probably fine. Check the simplest solutions first, defrost the freezer in case the icemaker water nozzel might be frozen. That solved my problem. I then increased my freezer temp by a couple of degrees and so far, no problems.
Good luck.

Blinking light in refrigerator

I think that's the light letting you know the door is open so it won't drop ice. When I held in the catch on the left side (as if the door was closed) the red light went off for me.

Blinking red light

hi there,

the red light means that you have blockage somewhere in the dispensing of the ice.

check the ice paddle for any breakage and the inside of the door and water line for any frost build-up.

if everything checks out okay, it will be the water valve itself or the water solenoid.
