The gas company red flagged my water heater because of black soot being produced. What could be causing the black soot?

A properly adjusted gas burner does not produce soot. your burner is defective. call a plumber to get it serviced or replaced.

I have a Char-Broil vertical propane smoker. The past 3 times I have used it, well, my food has black soot all over it! I have to wipe it all off the food before we can eat it. I have the top vent open and...

The propane burner has a slide opening somewhere before the burner so the gas/air mixture can be adjusted to burn better and hotter. you get alot of soot because the gas is too rich, it needs more air mixed in before the burner. the air vent on top and bottom of the chamber has nothing to do with the gas/air mixture to the burner.

Gas grill, yellow flame how do we adjust this

I've got the same grill and was having the same problem - yellow flames coming out the front vents above the knobs. I removed the four burner tubes and they were full of soot and ash. The tubes were still in good condition so I simply knocked them with a screwdriver and a ton of black soot/ash came out. All the screws that hold them in place were so corroded they were falling apart so I had to drill them out. I cleaned everything up, put it back together with new screws and it works perfectly - nice blue flames!

When the model 41 comeson it makes a woolf sound..also the window is sooted up..can you help?

If the burner mat is loose it will make that sound. A loose burner mat will also cause a soot problem. The soot can also be caused by too little air flow thru the burner.

Black soot on Coleman propane burner

Had same problem. Coleman tech support said, " clean with pipe cleaners". No directions....I would think they would provide a step by step protocol. So, I chose to take the knobs off and use the pipe cleaner where I could. I was able to take one of the two burner control knobs apart. After sticking the clean in every nook I could find, I put back together, and the flame on that burner is back to normal,

Propane grill leaves soot on everything

Change your gas regulator and connecting kit if it is more than a year old and living outside. The other possibility is, that if the unit is older, the burner holes have rotted out and become too large. Most grills have replacement burners readily available. Deal with the problem in the order I have presented the solutions and it should be just fine.

Side burner on Jennaire grill

Hello
The soot stains come from the air mixture, that will show too much yellow flame tips, just adjust the air intake, too have an idea how much to adjust it, and also it wouldn't hurt to clean the flames holes by sticking a pin. Alos make sure you have the right fittings converters. It's the grill LP Gas or Natural?
Hope this help
