Volvo s80 t6 after putting my serpintine belt back on when i started the car a good size of the belt ripped of and wrapped around my harmonic balncer to the timming belt and shut my car right down

Did the piece of serpentine belt actually make contact with the timing belt ? The timing belt should have been behind the timing cover.
And does the engine crank normally ? Normal compression ?

The coaster brake on bike doesn't work, when pressing the pedal back, it just rotates and the brakes don't grab. What could the cause be?

Perhaps the torque arm is not attached to the chainstay. The torque are is a metal bar about 3 inches long X 1/2 inch wide, and the chainstay is the tube of the bike frame that runs from the pedals to the rear wheel hub. There is usually a little metal clip that wraps around the chainstay and is attached to the end of the torque arm with a small bolt.

Just installed the schwinn hitch rack 3 on the hitch of our vehicle. How to we fasten bicycles on rack? men'a AND women's bikes.

For the ladies model you need an adapter bar to make it like a mans model. , mens, you just set arms on the bike's top bar and bungee it or if it has straps use them. Make sure that your pedals do not scratch your trunk by either buying foam pedal blocks or wrap and tape them. Put the womans bike on first.

Cord wrapped around unit while polishing and shut down. cannot restart

possibly ripped the wires from switch or broke the wires in the cord itself. You can go to Makitatools.com for a breakdown on this tool, but would have to guess at the above.

Drove over something and ripped wires in front left of car- need the wires put back together

You may need to strip the wires and solder them back together, you should reroute the wires to where they will not do this again. Make sure to splice the wires well and wrap them with electrical tape. Also make sure you use the right gauge wire, 12 gauge or 14.

Brake lights are staing on

hi the brake light switch is located on the actual brake pedal what you need to do is get on your knees and look closely at the brake pedal, follow the pedal up to the top near to where it goes through the bulk head into the engine at the top of the brake pedal this is where the switch is it should have 2 or 3 wires going into it.

You may find its just come loose and needs re-fitting but the chances are the switch has worn and needs replacing, but for a temporary fix you can wrap a bit of tape around the pedal so that it takes up some of the play on the brake light switch so that it pushes the switch in so that the lights go off.
This fix wont last long but would work for a few days your best option is to replace it if its fitted correctly if its come away from the pedal then just fit it back on and you should be om
ok

The tension adjustment does not get difficult enough

If you are refering to a regular bicycle this means the derailer is not making the chain jump from gear to gear. You probably need a new shifter cable or the shifter cable came unhooked from the derailer. I would take your bike to a bike shop to have this reconnected and then they will adjust it for you.

If you are refering to an exercise bike then here may be your solution. From what I have seen on exercise bikes there are three different kind of bikes. I am refering to how there resistance works.

First type has a strap that wraps around the wheel. There is a some kind of a nut and a bolt that holds that strap around the wheel. You simply need to tighten that nut. The strap will stretch over time and that is why you do not have the same resisteace you had when the bike was new. Afer you tighten this you will find that regular tensioner works better.

The Second type of exercise bike has what appears to be brake pads contacting the wheel. Basically your peddaling the bike with the brakes on. Pretty simple concept. Again there should be some sort of adjustment around this pad that is touching the wheel. Probably a screw or a bolt. Some even have adjusters that you can turn with your fingers.

The new and improved exercise bikes have what is called magnetic resistance. This is where your resitance is created by a magnet and some sort of power source such as batteries or your bike being plugged into a wall outlet. If you are using batteries replace them. I found that with my elyptical exerciser new batteries made a world of difference in the resistance settings. If changing the batteries doesn't help then there may be another problem. This could be the computer. Just check your user manual and I am sure you can get it replaced.
