Jandy lite 2 heater model lj325n - code fl4 - hot surface igniter problem- I tapped the gas valve and checked the fuse , still getting the same code.

Igniter circuit is open. Check fuses on igniter wires. Identify and correct loose or broken wires.

Element has a fine crack in it. Replace

Igniter fault. Replace igniter.

Pool heater will not come on and displays a number 4 and service heater

After reading the manual at http://www.jandy-downloads.com/pdfs/H0248900D.pdf, I found the FL4 fault indicates an igniter failure.

The possible causes are:
A. Igniter circuit is open.
B. Element has a fine crack in it.
C. Igniter fault.

The recommended correction is:
A. Check fuses on igniter wires. Identify and correct
loose connections or broken wires. Refer to
qualified personnel.
B. Measure room temperature resistance and
ensure value is in the correct range. See manual
for details. Refer to qualified personnel.
C. Replace igniter. Refer to qualified personnel.

If you have a volt/ohm meter you could measure the AC voltage going to the igniter when it should come on. If you see 120 VAC then replace the igniter. If the ignitor lights up and the gas valve turns on and there is gas pressure then the heater should light up.

If the 120 VAC doesn't get to the igniter you can check the items in the above lists and if not resolved call Jandy technical support at 800-822-7933 and they should be able to help youfigure this issue out. I hope this helps.

I have a Pentair 40,000 BTU pool and spa heater. It comes on and then shuts off in about a minute with an error code appearing in the readout. The error code is E05. What does this mean?

The heater is trying to light but cannot. Either the igniter is broken or you are not getting any gas to the igniter. Check to make sure your gas valves are on.

Mr. Heater Big Maxx 75,000 BTU Heater will not ignite. Manufacturer says it's possibly a faulty chipboard. After replacing the chipboard with a new unit shipped from the manufacturer the unit still will...

Is the circuit board giving you a blinking error code?
On a call for heat, the 24 volt thermostat sends a signal to the control module. The control module will indicate a call for heat with a light on the control either blinking or remain solid depending upon model. The inducer (exhaust) blower will purge all gasses from the furnace and pressurize a pressure switch. Once the pressure switch tells the module to continue, the electronic ignition will energize and send 120 volts to the igniter. The igniter will glow and you will be able to see it if viewed thru the small inspection port. Once the igniter gets hot enough, it sends a signal to the module opening up the gas valve (24 volts). Either a pilot will come on or the burner tube will ignite then spread the flame to all burners. Lastly a safety sensor will be looking for a certain temperature within a few seconds and the furnace will continue to operate and the room air blower will turn on in a minute or two.

What could go wrong? The unit will not run if there is no signal from the thermostat (bad thermostat or broken wire), the control module does not sense a signal from the thermostat (bad control), the inducer does not energize (bad motor), the pressure switch does not close (blocked vent piping, bad switch, plugged condensate hose), the igniter does not energize (bad control, bad igniter), the gas valve does not open or there is no gas (bad gas valve, broken wire, no gas), the pilot does not light (dirty pilot), the burner does not light (bad burner, plugged orifice, not enough combustion air), the flame does not spread to each burner (bad flame spreader, dirty flame spreader, more bad burners), the flame safety sensor does not detect flame (dirty or bad flame spreader, bad flame sensor, broken wire, bad control), or the room air blower does not energize (bad fan motor, bad control).

The heater ignites but dosn't stay on

Not sure what you have for a heater so I can only offer generic info.

The inducer (exhaust) blower will purge all gasses from the furnace and pressurize a pressure switch. Is there a spark? or do you need a long match? The button usually just opens the pilot so it can be lit. If its not electronic.

Heater is off and code says FL 2

The FL2 code indicates that the heater has tried and failed to ignite three times. This is not uncommon after it has sat for a while unused. Check that the gas shut off valve is open and the valve inside the heater is in the on position. While it is trying to fire check to see if the hot surface igniter glows, then you should hear an audible "clunk" that is the pilot valve opening. If the pilot valve is opening but the HSI is not glowing then the HSI will need to be replaced. This is not uncommon.

To clear the FL2 service code, turn off the heater by using the SELECT key to turn the heater to the 'OFF' position and then turn it back to either 'POOL' or 'SPA'. The heater will now go back to the normal operating mode. If there is a call for heat the heater will attempt ignition again. If the ignition fails
again, contact a qualified technician to check the heater.
