Use a pink eraser like that on the end of a pencil. In fact, use a pencil.

Duracell batteries leaked in my Garmin 62st.. New batteries too..

You can take the bad batteries out and clean up the battery compartment, using isopropal alcohol (rubbing alcohol and a lot of q tips). . Problem is if the acid wrecked the contacts. Light corrosion (green, corroded copper color) needs to be removed with sand paper or emery cloth, until all the contacts are shinny metal again. maybe spray some silicon on the newly shinned metal to slow down re-corrosion. If the damage is serious, i.e. the metal is eaten away, then someone with soldering experience needs to desolder the bad metal and resolder in good. This can be quite expensive is you take it to a technician.

Battery corrosion

If you have issues with corroding battery terminals no matter how well you clean them, simply glue a penny next to the each termal, the corrosion will attach to the copper...............

Automatic side door wont work automatic

Check the electrical spring connectors at the door, and the contacts at the door pillar. They are notorious for corrosion. Take some steel wool or very fine sand paper, rub against the contact areas until a copper color returns. The pillar contacts get corrosion and very poor continuity thru the connector. The spring contacts in the door can also get corrosion on the back side at the connector, try cleaning them on the outside first before attempting to remove door panel.

I have a HP 8259 printer and it indicates the yellow print cartridge needs to be replaced even when i install a new cartridge. It will not let me print in color or black/grayscale. I have had the printer...

Older printers can do funny things. It is probable that the little copper contacts on the ink cartridge are not making good contact with the printer which is giving bad information to the computer that the ink cartridge is empty. A two year old printer may have some corrosion on the printer's contacts. Remove the ink cartridge and use a soft pencil eraser to clean the printer's contacts.

My 2005 Burb rear door will not lock (tailgate)

I am assuming that you mean with the electric door lock and not the key. If the lock works with the key but not the electric, do the following. Open the rear door and find the electric contacts. (one side will have 4 spring load prongs and the door side will have a flat plate with brass/copper contact plates) Take a small knife or sandpaper and scratch off corrosion on the prongs and the plates. Once they are clean and shiny, the electric locks should work.

Not firing out of distributer cap

hi, if you have no spark from the cap and the inside of the cap looks fine then the chances are the coil needs replacing, this is the part that sends the power to the dizzy so if you have got nothing coming out of the dizzy and the cap looks good and not corroded on the inside then the chances are the coil has packed up

have you took the dizzy cap off and checked all the contacts under neath are not corroded you should have the rotary arm in the middle you need to check this has no corrosion at the part in the middle you can rub this with fine sand paper then the bit that runs on the edge you can rub this on your tyre so remove the rotary arm and rub the copper part on the tyre to remove any corrosion then check up inside the dizzy cap to make sure all the contacts are not corroded if they are give it a good clean use a sharp screwdriver to clean each contact so its shiny metal then refit, if after doing this you still have no spark then this points towards the coil being at fault.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Corrosion on copper contacts

The best way is to use a pink rubber pencil eraser. This is a non-abrasive cleaner that with a lot of scrubbing will clean most gunk off the contacts. If there is serious corrosion on the contacts then you have other problems and depending upon the severity it may have done damage to the circuts aswell. Anyway, scrub the contact til bright and shiney and see how that works.

Phone will not turn on.

If you are sure the battery is charged, the battery may not be making a good contact with the copper connections. Make sure the contact surfaces are clean and have no corrosion. I have a phone that has this problem occasionally.

My check engine light indicated a rear oxygen sensor.

Well not being and expert! I fixed two of my gmc's but you need to get under the car, and check the points of contact on the harness, both of my trucks had corrosion on one contact point, so I cleaned them, and stuck a short piece of copper wire in inside to insure good contact, check engine lights are off on both trucks now!
