I have a Functional Problem. The little wrench shows on the User Tools / Counter button location and on the screen. The Functional Problem code looks like SC542-00. It tells me to shut off copier and turn back on if problems continues to call service. Is there something simple that could cause this. A service call will cost me around $200. Thank You Jeff

Hi, you can turn off the key code management by going into User Tools. Press the User Tools/Counter button, then go to System Settings and then Admin Tools. There should be an option on the screen (you may have to scroll down) for key counter management -- turn this option off.
When you exit out of User Tools, you should be able to see the Copy screen just like you normally would, without having to enter a key code.
If the message on screen is asking you for a User Code rather than a key code or key counter, that option can also be disabled in User Tools. Go back into the Admin Tools and look for an option called User Authentication Management, or something similar, and either disable it completely or disable it for copying.
You can see the existing user codes in this machine please fallow the procedure:
press usertoos/Counter button - then go to system settings and press ok button - go to key operator tools and press ok button - go to address book managment and press ok button - it will ask you the one search number give 001 and press ok button - it willask you name or displayes existing name simply press ok button - it will display an other window their you con find the user code option please press the user code button you con see the existing user code the exit and use that code to use the machine.
Other wise if you want to remove the user code option go to usertools/counter and go to systems settings and go to key operator tools and go to user code managment and sellect OFF by using up/down arro key and press ok button and exit switch OFF/ON machine directly come to copy mode- thanks
Hi, whoever administrates that copier has set it up for key counter management, which means that unless you supply the correct key (which is typically a card that you swipe or a code you enter) you can't make color copies. If this is your copier, you can disable key counter management:
- Press the User Tools/Counter button.
- Go to System Settings.
- Go to Admin Tools.
- Find the option for Key Counter Management and turn it off.
- Exit out of User Tools.
Now you should be able to make copies normally.
Hi, somehow the external key counter option for your copier got turned on. This option is typically used for coin-operated copiers such as those found in libraries. You can turn this option off by doing the following:
- Press the User Tools button
- Select System Settings
- Select Admin Tools
- Select Key Counter Management
- Choose Off, or de-select the full-color option if it is selected.
- Exit out of User Tools
SC542: Fusing temperature warming-up error
The fusing temperature does not reach the fusing standby temperature within 135 sec (35CPM machines) or 145 seconds (45CPM machines) after the main power switch is turned on.
- Possible causes -
• Fusing thermistor defective or out of position
• Fusing lamp open
• Fusing thermofuse open
• BICU defective
• Power supply board defective
• Poor fusing unit connection
Sometimes by going into service mode and then turn off copier and back on will clear this message or while in service mode do an error clear. But most of the time it is the thermistors in the fixing unit needs to be cleaned or replaced. I would probably call in the techs.
Press user tools counter. Go to the key operator section. Look for the user codes settings. There is a screen in there that tells the copier when to use the user code (copy, print, fax, scanning).
Where the scanner section is make sure it is disabled or off.
press the user tools button, press the copier button on the screen then go into the administrator tools button in there you should see some option for turning the key counter off.
Press the user tools/counter button. Select the counter in the lower right corner on the lcd display. If you need a hard copy. Press print on the screen. Press the green button on the copier.
