SOURCE: Microwave oven

Yes, it could be. The first thing to try is a "hard reset".

Unplug it from the power line for a few minutes, plug it back in, then try again.

Let us know if the hard reset doen't fix it.

SOURCE: whirlpool microwave oven model gh5184xpq

Models: GH9177XL GH5176XP GH5184XP GH6178XP GH6177XP
Microwave will not operate (cook). F7 error code
appears on the display.
Electrical circuit interruption between L1 and Neutral in
the microwave inverter circuit.
Possible reasons:
1. Check door, hinge and cavity front alignment and adjust
as needed.
2. Check the operation of all interlock switches.
3. Check over temperature protector for the magnatron.
4. Check all Cavity Thermostats for closed circuit.
5. Unplug the oven for at least 40 seconds. If this solves
the problem
A. Check the Cooling Fan for proper operation or
B. Check the resistance of the magnetron thermostat.
It should be 0 Ohms, replace if necessary.
6. Check that the control cable to the 1100 watt inverter
is properly connected to plug P2 on the display PCB
& Adjust or Reconnect
7. If interlock switches operate correctly, replace 1100W
8. If problem persists, replace control assembly.

Please let me know if you need any more help or have further questions about anything that I have posted. I would be glad to help

SOURCE: have a Whirlpool microwave oven, model MH3185XP. Just stopped wor

In some Whirlpool models, there are more than one fuse, and two or more thermal devices which can interrupt power to the oven.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

If you don't find yours, or if you want to look at it without disassembling the oven, you can download it here.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

Please write back with more details if you need further help.

SOURCE: Whirlpool MH1150XMQ 1000 Watts Microwave--NO HEAT

About 95% of the time it is the magnatron. If the microwave is under 5 years old that part is often covered under warranty. I would check your manual. If not the p/n is 8206335 and it's about $80 and fairly easy to install. I just looked and the magnatron is covered.

Labor to replace it would be about $125

My new Whirlpool Microwave oven is now showing an F7 on the screen and will only turn on for 3 seconds. What should I do?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

The F7 = HV SMPS feedback error. Most of the time this is a costly microprocessor board issue but can be something as simple as a loose or broken wire.

If it is in fact new you should contact Whirlpool for warranty service. Anything you would do as a consumer will void the warranty. First make sure your microwave is registerd via this link where it says "Register your product"

Then using that same link you can schedule service or find out where your nearest carry in service center is.
Online Service Scheduling:

(866) 698-2538
Mon-Fri: 8am - 10pm (EDT)
Sat: 12pm - 5pm (EDT)

If the unit is second hand or out of warranty please include the model number in your next response.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

Door open button is broken, door will not open

door button mechanism is all behind the control panel.
there should be a couple screws holding the control panel on, you can see them when you open the door i believe.
you probably need to slide it one way or another to get it to unhook from its hidden catches..
there is the outer button you press with your hand thats available in 3 colors depending on your model #, and then the inner latch..
it will need to be checked to verify which parts are broken..
hope this helps,
best of luck,

Display has a f2 code on it. whirlpool oven is model mh1150xm and less than 3 years old.

determined from whirlpool that the f2 display is from the control circuit board. the board's problem is intermittent and needs eventually replacing. not covered by warranty. determined that whirlpool has reduced the warranty for the electronic circuits in its appliances from 5 to 1 year. this is great for consumer confidence in whirlpool. have had trouble with 2 other new whirlpool appliances. probably will not buy another whirlpool appliance.
