Hi there I got Toshiba Satellite A10 that always shutdown by itself after I turn on the 'dynamically switchable frequency' from the bios (factory default). I don't find dusty fan or heatsink. The fan is working well. I know that it's overheating but I believe the main cause is not because of dusty heatsink or spoilt fan. Can you help please?
A small tip I have seen used was to glue 4 plastic bottle caps on to bottom of the unit using hot glue , this gave it a better air flow in and out from the laptop as many unit only have tiny rubber pads which don't allow the unit the air it needs to remain cool , with my laptops i always run a external fan as overheating is a problem on may models , you can also buy laptop stands that have fans incorporated in them that can run off a USB port as most laptops draw the air in from the bottom and out the back or side to expel it , the laptop stands force extra air in through the bottom and improve the temp a lot and are inexpensive .

I have a similar problem with my A200. I have to change this setting to Always Low, and also disable the second core, otherwise the computer switches off and restarts. In case it was due to driver updates, I used the Recovery Disc to restore Vista and observed the same problem.
