hmm not sure if its worth taking apart just incase it malfunctions and causes more problems, if you look at the switch then you maybe able to match the type by searching the internet for a replacement if its attatched to a circuit board then replace the board. try looking here..http://www.espares.co.uk/searchwizard.as...

Kenmore dryer just hums, wont tumble

Try this:
Open door. Hold door button. Have someone push start button. When they push start button, spin the drum wiht your hand. If it starts working, the problem is the start windings in the motor are not being energized. Could be capacitor but not all motors use them. Could be the syntrifugal switch in the motor or something else in the starting system. May want to think about getting another dryer from a place like Lowes. They are usually around $200 and up for a good one.
Good Luck

Hotpoint VTD00 tumble dryer wont stay on! help!

Remove the top cover and spray the affected botton with WD 40. it may be just sticking.
Make sure it is free and not catching on anything.
It will not hurt the dryer by taping it up,nor will it catch fire,
If it is still sticking, then it is a fairly simple job to replace.
Plz rate my suggestion for solution.
Thanks, and plz feel free to leave any comment.
