Receiver would only stay on a few seconds and a little smoke came up through the top when started repeatedly. found 2 fets (IRF9450 & IRF450) in one channel of the power amp were shorted. Replaced them. The resistors that gave off the smoke seemed to be ok (same reading as on other channels) so I left them. after replacement it stays on there is no smoke all the controls and displays seem normal but there is no output on any of the channels. The pre-outs are ok but nothing on any of the speakers. any ideas?

It would seem the TV/SAT source is where the problem lies. No picture with CD? Really?

How about bypassing the receiver to prove what is failing?

I have a VSX-35TX receiver. When I turn on power, the receiver turns itself right off. Yesterday, the receiver would stay on for a few minutes after I turned it on.

Disconnect all your speaker wires at the receiver then turn it back on. If it stays on, your receiver is ok and you need to re-connect each speaker wire and test power. You will either find the fault or fix the problem. If you need further help troubleshooting, post a comment and I will help some more. Hope this helps

Looking to connect 4 speakers to the surround back

Series the speakers, they may not get as much power as you would like, but your receiver will last longer.

Pioneer VSX-35TX , "Power Off Message" , will not stay on.

It's probably going to need output transistors and some resistors, it's a job for a technician. A rough estimate on price is $100 to $130 (that's parts and labor). Before the smoke it may have only needed repair of bad connections.

I have pioneer receiver Vsx-454 i want to know if this receiver is 5.1 surrounds

Yes. It is 5.1 surround. There are 2 front channels, 1 center channel, and 2 rear channels which comprise the "5" in 5.1 surround. The pre-amp output channel for a sub is the ".5".
