A motherboard whatever its age, cannot function without CPU and memory, you need at least these to test it.
If you are sure the CPU and memory are fine but the motherboard doesn't work when tested then it's dead, junk it.

Hi, here you can see a list of cpu that your mainboard supports:

You maybe have to download a manual.
It will show you how to unlock all the cores at the cpu.
That means you have to enter the bios to make a setting
so the bios can work with the new cpu.

What AGP does the HP Pavilion mainboard MS6577 Ver 1 support? Thanks, wunkunn

It looks like the onboard video is the Intel 845GV Chipset and if you want to add a video card it will have to be PCI since I don't see a AGP slot. Good Luck

Sorry for my bad english

Hi mastelmkd, click on this link;
This is MSI's link for supported CPU's for the 645E Max-U motherboard. Check you're bios version. You'll need ver 5.3 to run the Pentium 4 (Northwood, FSB533, L2 Cache 512KB), Pentium 4, 2.8GHz CPU. Or you can choose a lower CPU from the list. Suggest you add the link above to you're favorites.

Good luck mastelmkd!

Wont power up ecs motherboard

Your 4-pin power connector supplies voltage to your CPU through some series of MOSFET transistors. First try to disconnect your CPU from the socket and power up your motherboard. Your CPU might be toasted. MOSFET transistors might be bad. Also look at your big caps around the CPU. If they have bubbled tops, you need to replace them.

Good luck

Help me

Is your board completely dead?
It should at least beep without memory installed. It should start CPU fan.
1. If your board is completely dead, check your power supply.
2. Visually inspect caps around your CPU. If you see any bubbled tops, you need to replace those caps.
3. You also might have a bad CPU.
4. Try to remove a backup battery and wait for a couple of minutes before reinstalling it back. It might reset your CMOS and BIOS

Good luck!!!
