"Note: If the Breath Indicator is lit, the EWI4000s will ...... buttons, theEWI4000s is reset to the Factory Preset setting. ..." (sic)
I think what you need to reset your "Breath" and then recalibrate as per manual.
If this doesn't work, you may have a faulty, sensor, and this will need to be repaired, by an authorised agent.

Hi , thnx for quick reaction

I think it will have to be repaired because also midi out is not working .

I only get pitchbend gliding over the rollers send to midi , it's verry frustrating , i have a performance next week and i don't have an instrument now :-(

Is there anything els i can do to be sure it's hardware failure ???

Because i don't want to send it back and hear there was nothing wrong with it

I read manual and i tried to do the things , checking general volume settings , adjusting breath sensitivity , but as for as i can see everything is ok and i can't get any position of the Breath sensitivity to work ...

Is it a common problem ?

    kind regards

Why is my new EWI4000s must transpose to D to get the normal C key? When I turn off and TRANS BUTTON, the key is B.

Two things to check... check that the "tuning" is set to A440 as the adjustment range would reach a one note offset... Next check that the glide plate has not bent the pitch to the next note... If you are using MIDI, make sure the external device is not transposed on receive.

Just bought the EWI4000s plugged it in but no sound.

First of all I recommend reading your entire manual cover to cover. Then read it again with the EWI in hand. Go step by step following the setup procedure. You have a complex instrument so it is very easy to miss something or make a mistake. Here is a link to the best wind synth website in North America: There is an 1/8" jack on the instrument for headphones. There is also a 1/4"unbalanced jack for plugging into an amp, mixer etc. Here is a link to the manual if you didn't get one: It is battery powered ( 4AA batteries ) so don't forget them. It can be powered by an optional MP9-II adapter (use the exact model ). It has a built in analog synth so if you set it up correctly you should get sound right out of the box. Hope this helps.

Can the thru tube be less resistant, larger diameter? anyone who has an Akai EWI4000s will know what I mean, there is a tube running down the inside of the instrument that lets excess air thru, It is very...

If you make the end wider and leave the rest of the tube the same diameter you will still have the same problem. The tube has to be a certain diameter to pass through the instrument. It also has to be this diameter for the breath sensor to work properly. WX5 players have had some success modding their mouthpieces by drilling small pressure relief holes but I don't recommend it. If you are a sax player who has come from an open mp and stiffer reed I can understand. You will have to alter your playing style. Try using your nose to vent some of the back pressure or let it escape through the corners of your mouth. Read up on circular breathing for some more hints.

Cannot play staccato, there is latency

Consider joining the forum here: It sounds like it is a velocity setting problem but the solution should be in your manual. It may also be a setting in the sound module you are using.

No sound from my EWI4000s but display of my fingering 1 to 12 which I did not note when the instrument was o.k. When I adjust breath sensor I hear a sound which stops as soon as I press fingers for any...

Try restoring to factory settings first by turning it on while holding down the Level,Fx,Setupand Trans keys all at the same time. Your key delay function might be out of adjustment. You also have to remember to keep at least one of your thumbs on one of the earth plates. Refer to your owners manual. Start with the factory settings and compare each page of the manual to your instrument until you familiarize yourself completely with the manual. Play the instrument for a while with factory settings until you decide where you have to make changes. Work slowly with each adjustment and the manual until you get what you want. Some adjustments will affect others. Take careful note of what the manual says about temperature and humidity changes.
