Is it a valid copy if xp. if it is you can use microsofts driver update site. If it is a copy you can go to Start>control Panel>System>Hardware>Device manager. This will give you a list of your hardware. If this list is incomplete you may have to resort to opening up the machine and identifying the components. Who built the machine, could their website be of any use???

Sound is not comming when i change window XP from window vista

Your PC requires a more recent soundcard device driver that is compatible with Windows Vista.

You can download the required driver here-

http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/desktop/aspire_t180.html#driver

Please be aware that there is a different driver for Microsoft vista sp1 and above as opposed to Microsoft Vista. SP means service Pack which is a combination of updates supplied by Microsoft to make your operating system more reliable, secure etc.

If you do not know whether you have SP 1 installed, click on the start menu, right click on the computer and click on properties. Your Windows operating system is now described in the top of the window. It will say something like Microsoft Vista or Microsoft Vista SP1.

Had a power outage when it came back on the monitor font and resoultion if huge I tried to change the pixels but couldn't

you can change the resolution from the display properties of your computer.

if you're using windows xp:

right-click on desktop > properties > settings. then try to change the resolution.

if you're using windows vista/7

right-click on desktop > screen resolution then change the settings.

**if nothing happens.

check the software of your graphics/video card (nvidia etc.) i believe there is an option there where-in you can change the resolution of you computer. check if it works.

** if nothing happens

check if the driver software is installed.

for windows xp:

right-click on my computer > properties > hardware then click on device manager.

for windows vista/7:

right-click on computer > properties > device manager (left side of the window.)

when you're at device manager window, check if there's any question marks. if there is. re-install the driver and see if it works.

let me know if it solved the problem.

I repormat my pc from vista to xp but sound and internet connection dessapearmy product name of my pc is PC STATION SOTEC BJ9516PB Japan made

arthur_acebe

In regard to your missing sound and internet connection the reason for this is Windows XP did not have built in drivers for your computer. So what you will need to do is go to the manufacture of you computers webpage and see if they have XP drivers for your sound and network card. If they do not then you may need to look at the cards themselves to see who made them and try to get drivers from the direct manufacture.

Keep in mind that Windows Vista is newer than Windows XP so it is possible that you may not be able to find XP drivers for your computer as it shipped with Vista.

Let me know if you have any more problems or questions. Also if you were having issue with Vista let me know and I can help you address them.

Bios setting problem

This happens because Windows is corrupted.

You need to start the computer with a windows install disk, or a factory recovery disk inside to reinstall the system.

Get a windows install disk and reinstall the system.

Reformating

You need to have a windows vista dvd or a recovery/restore cd from Acer. CD-less installation will only work if your computer has a restore image which should be installed in the factory. I dont think acer dekstops have that though.

Just call Acer and ask for a vista dvd or see if you know someone who owns a computer which came with the same version of vista and borrow their dvd.

The flash drive purchased doesnot work when pjugged into the usb port on my desk top but it work on my lap top? How do I get it to work on my desk top

Hello claponte

FIRST, THE HARDWARE SIDE:
If you just purchased your flash drive, then it is using the USB 2.0 (high speed) standard. Prior to that were USB version 1.1 and, before that, USB 1.0 standards.

USB 2.0 devices will still work when plugged into USB 1.1 ports - just at a reduced speed)

However, computers w/ USB 1.0 ports cannot properly detect USB 2.0 devices. On those computers, you'd need to install a USB 2.0 expansion card in order to add USB 2.0 functionality to the computer.

SECOND, THE SOFTWARE (DRIVERS) SIDE:
On the software side, USB devices are "plug-and-play" on Windows XP & Vista systems. This means they do not require special drivers or installation for them to work properly. The drivers needed for them to operate are already built into the operating system.

However on operating systems prior to Windows XP (Windows ME, Windows 98SE, Windows 98...) drivers are needed for USB devices to be detected properly.

These are two possible reasons why your flash drives don't work on your desktop computer.
(01) The computer is an older one using USB 1.0 technology
(02) The operating system is pre-Windows XP

Another possibility is (if your computer USB ports are at least 1.1 standard and your operating system is at least Windows XP) there is an issue w/ the USB ports on your desktop computer. This could be a hardware or a software issue still.

Please, let us know if that's the case and we'll help you to trouble-shoot the issue.

Please, let us know if this response was helpful for you or, of course, if you have any further questions.

Thank you
BJ
