The encryption (WEP) key is configured in the router's wireless settings. I suggest you use WPA or WPA2, these are later and much stronger encryption methods than the older WEP encryption.
The WEP Key is the Password you used to protect your router. To fix this problem, uninstall your router from your computer and reinstall it. When setting it up, keep everything as default and when it gets to WEP Key, make one up and write it down. Finish installing your router.

On your PS3, go to Network Settings and setup a wireless network. Let it search for your network, put in your custom WEP Key, and let it set up from there. When you enter your WEP Key, before hitting next, if there is an AOSS button on your router (Front/Top button on your router that allows networks to connect) you want to push it prior to moving on so your PS3 is discovered. You should be good to go from there.

Type this address into your computers browser 192.168.2.1 from there you can access your routers settings.The wep key will be under security.Once you get the key you can input it on your ps3.If you do not have a wep key make one.Most gaming systems etc won't connect to a unprotected connection.
You need to get the WEP key from the router that you are using to connect to the Internet. On the Setup or Security screen there will be a Network Key or Password. That is the code your PS3 is looking for. Once you enter it you should be able to then get on the Internet.
Do you have a laptop/desktop with a wired connection?

type in 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 (may be one or the other).
you should get a login prompt. Depending on your brand of router, the login could be different; however, I would try "admin" for user and "admin" for pass to see if that get's you in.
This will take you to your router's webpage. Goto the wireless portion, it should have a wireless security section within that. Click on WEP key and re-type the key to whatever you can remember.
Hit apply or save.
Goto to your PS3 make a new connection with the new WEP key.
What router are you using? If it is a lynksys then go to your web browser and type in 192.168.1.1 and enter in your login info, the default login is user: admin and either no password or the password is admin also. click the wireless tab and then click wireless security and it will display your wep code.
ok playstations arn't the best for connecting to the internet but they can connect none the less. first get your router closer to your ps3 to make the connection strength better or purchase a signal booster. get you connection evaluated and see if your ps3 is working properley by disconecting it from the mains for about an hour and then reconecting it to the mains. it might connect then but try a signal booster, it might help but it's probably your internet. - good luck
you will need to obtain your wep key no matter what...you can get it from whoever your router company is (if it is a linksys then call the linksys support number and obtain the key) in most cases thought the wep key is located on the router itself near the bar code. It will be a long number, When you get it and enter it in to the network settings then it should pick up the signal
