Question about Hitachi 50UX58K 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

I have a Hitachi 50UX58B tv. The power was accidentally left on for a week, though it was on vcr input, so the screen was blank at the time. When it was switched back to tv input we heard a pop and the screen is now blank. The tv does turn on, just no picture.

My son fell through the screen of my Hitachi 50UX58B TV no damage was done to the unit inside just the screen. Can tis be replaced? If so how, and how much? KKaiser

Yes. It may take some time and some patience. You will have to seek and find a TV repair business. They may have or know of another shop that may have the same TV they use as salvage. Just like an auto salvage, there are TV's out there for salvage. I'm not real excited about purchasing new from manufactures....the prices are too expensive. And E-bay may not be a wise choice. The best solution is to locate a TV shop near you. Thanks for asking and show few hands of support!

Works on occasion.

I believe this set has two relays in the power supply. One for standby power and one for full power. I have seen cases where the full power relay drops out or not energise causing the same symptom you describe. Lightly tapping on the relay sometimes identifies the culprit.
Hope this helps

I am trying to connect the vcr to the tv with a cable box

There are two ways to connect your equipment.

1) Connect the cable box antenna output (may be labeled "out to TV", "antenna out", "catv out" or even something else, but the key is it will say "out") to the VCR's antenna input. From the VCR's antenna output (out to tv, etc.) you connect to the TV's antenna input. For these connections you use RF cables, the kind with something called F-connectors on the ends. (These cables are available with screw-on or push-on type plugs. Use the screw-on type which makes a more reliable connection.) Set your VCR and TV both on the cable box output channel. This will be either 3 or 4, depending on how the box is set up. With this setup you can record whatever program is coming from the box by having the VCR record on the box output channel. Unfortunately, you can't record shows that are on different cable channels unless you'll be there to change channels on the box. (There are some VCRs that can control a cable box to switch channels, but I don't believe your model does.) You also can't watch one channel while recording a different one.

2) (This won't work if your TV doesn't have a video input available.) Connect the cable box to the VCR and the VCR to the TV with audio/video cables. These are the ones with RCA plugs, color-coded red and white for right and left channel sound and yellow for video. Set the VCR to line input and the TV to the input you have the VCR connected to. This connection setup gives a better picture and sound quality that the RF connection described above. You still have the same restrictions on recording, though.

Sounds a little confusing, I know. Just remember that inputs connect to outputs and you'll be set up in no time.

Hitachi tv model 50ux58b starts to come then goes off

If you have Hitachi model number 50UX58B, 60UX58B, 50UX58K, 60UX58K, 50SBX78B or 60SBX78B and you have the following symptoms you may want to grab a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kit that includes the parts and instructions to fix these models. This is a fairly common problem with the above model numbers. It is typically caused by a blown capacitor and pico fuse. Again, you can get a kit from the above address.

Here are the symptoms...

Primary Symptom: No Audio or Video. Power light will come on briefly then shut off.
Other Possible Symptoms : The green LEDs on the circuit board light up for a few seconds then turn off.

Hope this helps,

Wii Start but the game didn't start, screen went black

  • Is this your first time hooking up the Wii console or have you moved it to another TV or VCR?

  • The AV Multi Out plug that is included with the Wii will allow you to connect the console to most televisions or video cassette recorders (VCR). First, look at the back of your television AND your VCR and see if you have colored holes label "Input". Though most TVs have them, almost all VCRs do as well.
    avinputsdiagram.gif
    • Audio/Video (AV) inputs are located on the front or back of the TV or VCR.
    • They are smooth silver posts with the inside showing a color, usually red, white and yellow.
    • Look for inputs marked Audio and Video IN.
    • The image on the left features stereo audio inputs. Some televisions have only one audio input. Click here for help setting up a mono audio connection.
    • Do NOT connect your system to anything marked OUT.

  • My experience shows that the majority of these issues can be solved by double-checking your connection and finding the correct Input Select for your TV or VCR.

  • If you have verified the connection is correct, and are still receiving a blank white or blank dark screen when powering on your Wii console, then the problem is likely with the system and it will need to be repaired.

Dvd into vhs input

If you can watch TV normally then it should be a button on your VCR remote. It could be "Input", "Line" or "Aux". Tvs with more than one input line will may require 2 presses on that button, one for each line. This is the best answer that I can give not seeing your remote. Any questions?
