SOURCE: Toro Electric Start Mower Barely Turns Over

this is easy to point out the problem. if it is still under warranty get warranty replacement of the starter is not you might be better off just buying a new mower might be easier and cheaper because if your not still under warranty with it it will cost you quite a bit of money if you can't replace it yourself it will cost you the amount of the new starter and it will cost you the amount that the shop's labor fee which can vary a lot depending on where you take it.

SOURCE: Craftsman 7.0 HP Briggs & Stratton mower stalling

Check the muffler, if the muffler is clogged it could cause overheating of the engine, and could keep the engine from getting the necessary fuel-gas mixture.

SOURCE: once engaged and start mowing, you can mow for

This actually happened to a friend of mine! I saw it! Mow about 20 feet, and had to stop, then 20 feet...well, you get the picture. It was his air filter! Stopped up pretty good. We blew it out and it worked fine.
I really hope this helps. --W/D--

After power outage, we had to pull the release cord to disengage the opener. Now that the power is back on, how do you re-engage the door with the unit so it will function?

These usually attach to each other with a slide lock. What you can do is command the door to stop within a few inches of the cord release. Then lift the door without pulling the cord until the door engages to the lift. It may take a little pressure and repeated cycles to get it to engage. Be sure that the cord release is not stuck. Cycle it a few times by pulling on the cord and watch the lock mechanism to make sure it is operating correctly. Your door is adjusted so that the opener senses a little pressure on the door to make sure it is completely closed. So if you just try to open and close the traveler may not quite make it to the disconnect. That is why you need to engage them manually. I hope this helps you. This is a real common problem with garage door openers.

Stihl chainsaw MS460 Can't pull recoil

It could be the recoil is stuck. a couple of things to check. Take the clutch and chain cover off, remove the spark plug and manually try to turn the motor over by turning the clutch. If the motor/engine is not seized, take the pull start/recoil cover off and pull on the cord to see if it will work and that the cord returns back into the recoil automatically. Don't take the nut off the inside of recoil holding the cord spool on. If the engine is not seized, and the recoil now goes in and out by pulling the start cord handle reassemble and pull over the engine a few times. This a good time to check the spark plug is working, now put the spark plug back in and start the engine. It's a good time to clean the air filter as well while the chainsaw is mostly apart and clean all oily sawdust off the chainsaw in the crevices etc..

I have a Troy Bilt Weedeater Model # TB415CS Here is the problem my wife decided to use this unit while I was at work one day and broke it. When I go throught the start up routine and go to pull the start...

If the rope recoils back into the starter, at least the starter spring is not broken...but...if you can break the unit down to where you can get a good look at it, you may find that the ratchets on the starter pulley are not engaging with the pawls on the flywheel...The pawls are spring loaded so they engage and then drop out of the way when starting, See if you can break the machine down to that point and post back,

I have a 2004 polaris sportsman atv. I went out to start it and with not being turned over for a couple of month the battery would not fire the rig up. so when I pulled on the start cord it just recoiled...

powered up the battery, still wouldn't kick over the machine. then tried for the heck of it to pull the start cord and it wasn't pulling the engine crank just recoiled for three pulls then suddenlly it caught and started the machine on the first pull. percervierence prevails!!! Now my life is whole again.

Once engaged and start mowing, you can mow for about 20 feet or more and then it just slows down and the engine wants to die, but stop pulling immediately and the engine catches up and goes back to full...

Toro GT5 lawnmower - the pull cord (to start the engine) only comes out about 3 inches - I'm afraid to pull to hard for fear of breaking the line.

First - remove spark plug and squirt 3mls of engine oil in there - replace spark plug and leave overnight.

Try pulling that start handle !
Two things may happen - it snaps or - it turns over.
If it turns over - prime fuel and start in choke setting.
If the cord snaps - undo the pull start block - and take it to a lawnmower spares depot, and buy some more cord. It's quite cheap.
Get the length right so you don't have too much.
Next - the engine is probably seized - so needs freeing up. You may be able to do this with the new cord, Otherwise - take the head off the cylinder and tap the piston down with a wooden drift while turning the crank.
Use a non-setting gasket sealant like hematite red to re-use the old gasket. Lawnmowers are quite resilient.
