Most Toshiba 6100s come standard with wireless cards installed. If you're unsure, just turn on the WiFI antenna switch (near its SD card slot) and see if the WiFi access LED lights up (the WiFi LED is the rightmost LED on the front of the unit) -- if it lights up, then you've got a stock Wireless card in your system.
Email me if you can't determine which card you have.
It should have built-in wireless. Is there a wireless on/off switch on the right front of the case? Is there a wireless light indicator? If your wireless switch is off, you won't be able to connect. You can go to the device manager and look at the network devices to see if a wireless device is installed. If so, you'll just need to turn it on. If you don't have one, you'll need to install a wireless card.
Some models that come with a wifi card already in them have an antenna. Since you purchased your card after the laptop it does not have an internal antenna. You can purchase the internal antenna but this will require you to take apart your screen.
You could purchase a PCMCIA or USB wifi adapter and use an antenna with those devices without taking apart your laptop.
You just have to route it through the case covering as much area as possible, as spaced out as possible. Also, the reason PCMCIA cards don't get very good signals is simply because they don't have enough space to have a properly sized antenna.
If you want to get WiFi, the only WiFi SD card available for the T5 is the Palm WiFi SD card. No other WiFi card compatible.
The SD card fits into the SD slot, but the card is longer than standard SD cards, so part of it extends out of the slot. This is the antenna for the WiFi radio. Also, you must install the drivers for the card or else it won't work properly. Drivers are available for free download at Palm's site. Linux will not work either without the card, sorry.
