If you want to burn the video to a DVD then you should first transfer the footage to a computer. You will need a USB cable to do this. Once its connected open windows movie maker(if you are using windows) and click on capture from camera and it will start capturing it to the computer. Once done click save and choose the format you want to save it in. You can then burn it to a DVD using a DVD burner software like nero. If you don't have one then you can use this free software

Thanks for this, but can't I use the LG machine to burn striaght to the DVD. I can copy VCR tapes on this LG machine directly to DVD, what not from the camcorder through ther machine?

The cables that come with the camcorder do not have a usb connection, so how do I get it to connect to the computer, and I also do not have movie maker?

OH! I missed your last comment. Anyways yes you can burn to DVD using it provided you have not enabled copy protect on the camcorder. Most camcorders have this feature as a means to protect against un-authorised copying. If it is enabled then I am afraid you cannot dub this particular tape using a DVD recorder. Of course your camcorder has a USB port but its a firewire port not the regular USB. Get a firewire to USB cable and that should do the trick. The firewire port is located near the LCD cavity. Click here to get the manual just in case you haven't found it
Movie maker is a software that comes with your copy of windows. Click start->Run and type in Moviemk.exe . If it does not open then you can download it for free from the microsoft website

Can i convert at PAL video with this machine?

The version of the ZV427MG9 sold in the U.S. only supports NTSC video files. Thus it won't play a PAL VHS tape.

If you find a similar version sold in Europe, that would probably play PAL videos. However, if you used the tape to DVD dubbing feature, the DVD would still have the PAL format. I'm not even sure that a video capture device with video conversion software on a computer would do what you want to do.

I wish that I had better news for you.

Cindy Wells
(The video would also matter. If you are trying to convert a commercial video (ex: a movie) to DVD, the dubbing feature doesn't work due to copy protection.)

I had a similar problem with a Cannon Optura PI and had to send it in. It was better, but I still have problems on occasion. If your intent is to transfer all the tapes to media, I would suggest purchasing Toshiba's DVD Video Recorder/Video Cassette Recorder. Model: DVR620KU. I use a VHS-C Cassette Adapter to play my VHS-C tapes in and the dubbed them to a DVD. Works great. Unfortunately, there is no 8mm/VHS Adapters, since 8mm, Hi8, miniDV are different formats with different technical characteristics than VHS. These formats were never developed with the intention to be mechanically compatible with past or current VHS technology. Your best bet would to borrow a HI-8 Camcorder and then dub your tapes to DVD's using the Toshiba machine. Here is a link to the Toshiba machine. http://www.testfreaks.com/dvd-players-recorders/toshiba-dvr620/
Good luck

Dub a tape that is playing through my camcorder on TV

A vcr or dvd-recorder only reads the input signal. It does not care where it is coming from, only that it is there. You would have to run it through the vcr or dvdr for it to read the signal, or copy it to your computer and burn it to dvd.
