To check your CPU and memory utilization, run Task Manager. You can start Task
Manager by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL

Performance tab and check CPU Usage and PF Usage. PF Usage is an indicator of
memory usage. If one or both of these is high, click on the Processes tab, and
sort the columns by CPU or Memory to see what processes are consuming the
resource. If you are not sure what the process "Image name" is for, Google
the name and you should find what the process is for.

A Disk read error on boot means your hard disk has or is about to fail. to verify this you can try to fun a hard disk testing utility such as Seagate SeaTools, Western Digital Data Lifeguard, Hitachi DFT. These are all freeware.
it can't be, check if the windows is reading 2gb from system under control panel.
to find out if your pc is fast, see if it plays a game faster than before or use a program faster than before there is no diffrence in using windows itself. example i think in your mind you'd expect to click on my documents and it loads it super fast now with 2gb of ram? no, you're wrong weather you have 1gig or 2gig windows still works the same the diffrence is Faster file transfer, faster applictions but not a faster windows.
it could also be the norton if you installed, it lowers your speed.
check Task manager, in the performance section cpu usage should be under 10% and pf under 500mb
Unfortunately, an HCL HCM782M monitor is an unknown model. However, on similar instances and occurrence of this problem, it would seem that the controls are damp. Specifically, it would be the internal contacts of the buttons. Pls check if you can dis-assemble, remove the board/control/buttons and perform cleaning. Pls pay particular attention to the rubber pads or the small buttons themselves. if I may ask, any recent continuous rain? If yes, this may have contributed or caused your problem.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
