I really need to know what OS you are using. XP/Vista???
Also, could you be a little clearer on what software. I don't want to give you the wrong information. That would only make it worse.

Get back to me. Thanks.

    Please follow these steps:

Once the computer is on go to:

    Start

    My Computer

    Right click Local Disk C

    Select TOOLS

    Click Error Checking

    Tick both boxes

    Start

It will go through 3 phases

Results: If none--it will tell you that, and click OK

If there are errors I need to know what they are.

    STOP AND GO NO FURTHER!!!!!

If there are no errors go to the next step

Go back to CHECK LOCAL DISK C box

    Tick AUTOMATICALLY FIX FILE ERRORS

You will get a box on restart disk utility will run

    Click YES

    Box will go away

    OK

    Close the last box

    Restart

You computer will go through a series of checking the disk

DO NOT PRESS ANY KEYS LET IT RUN

    3 phases

    Once done will reboot

    Let's see what happens

Let me know what happens once it reboots. This may or may not solve the problem. If it does not we will have to repair Windows. Let's see first.

What's your problem? It's stuck on logging off

There are many things that might cause your PC to run slowly or restart at time and then. It could be a fragmented disk; fragmented registry; a virus, Trojan, or spy ware; high CPU and/or utilization due to too many programs running; high disk I/O; or something else.

To check your CPU and memory utilization, run Task Manager. You can start Task Manager by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL and then clicking on the Task Manager Button. In Task manager, click on the Performance tab and check CPU Usage and PF Usage. PF Usage is an indicator of memory usage. If one or both of these is high, click on the Processes tab, and sort the columns by CPU or Memory to see what processes are consuming the resource. If you are not sure what the process "Image name" is for, Google the name and you should find what the process is for.

I have a Lenovo 300 N200 (0769) Recently it has become very slow even though everything seems fine. I tried running defragmentation but on a check it said defrag not needed as there's a lot of empty...

The slow reason may be one or more problems acting together. The problem nowadays is that it is very difficult and time consuming to monitor and take care of your Lenovo PC. Even experienced users find it hard to perform such tasks on regular basis because you might need to prepare a huge amount of time and energy to deal with each issue separately.

If you want to fix the problems more efficiently, try the Lenovo speed up program, available here.

A Disk read error on boot means your hard disk has or is about to fail. to verify this you can try to fun a hard disk testing utility such as Seagate SeaTools, Western Digital Data Lifeguard, Hitachi DFT. These are all freeware.

I upgraded the memory from 1Gb to 2 Gb but my laptop's still slow

it can't be, check if the windows is reading 2gb from system under control panel.

to find out if your pc is fast, see if it plays a game faster than before or use a program faster than before
there is no diffrence in using windows itself. example i think in your mind you'd expect to click on my documents and it loads it super fast now with 2gb of ram? no, you're wrong weather you have 1gig or 2gig windows still works the same
the diffrence is Faster file transfer, faster applictions but not a faster windows.

it could also be the norton if you installed, it lowers your speed.

check Task manager, in the performance section
cpu usage should be under 10%
and pf under 500mb

Monitor display

Hi,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me"

Unfortunately, an HCL HCM782M monitor is an unknown model. However, on similar instances and occurrence of this problem, it would seem that the controls are damp. Specifically, it would be the internal contacts of the buttons. Pls check if you can dis-assemble, remove the board/control/buttons and perform cleaning. Pls pay particular attention to the rubber pads or the small buttons themselves. if I may ask, any recent continuous rain? If yes, this may have contributed or caused your problem.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

You're creating Disk images on your Hard Disc Drive.

See where your CD Burning Software stores the images of the Disk and use the appropriate option to burn them onto a blank CD.
