Remove cord and unscrew back panel. You should be able to reach all paddles by turning each 1 to bottom area and tightening.

How do i change a drum paddle in my hoover HNWL 7166 washer dryer

There's a screw holding each paddle in place, as well as the lugs on the paddle. You can get to the screw by removing the drain hose from the bottom on the drum, and the paddle will then be free to slide out

One of the paddles in the dryer tumbler fell off. How hard is it to open the lid and screw them back on?

Disconnect power then open the dryer door and remove the four screws located vertically along the inside lip of the door opening. These screws hold the front panel to the front shroud assembly.

Once the four screws are removed, grasp and press in on the upper edges of the front panel posts then twist it inward to release the clips holding it to the cabinet. Tilt the top of the front panel and move it away from the dryer.

The top cover is held on each side of the cabinet by two hold down brackets. Locate and remove the 5/16" hex-head screws holding each bracket.

Swing the bracket to the outside and unhook it from the slot in the top cover lip.

Open the door then lift the front of the top cover and tilt it toward the rear of the dryer. The baffle securing screws can now be re-tightened or reinstalled. Reinstall the top cover and the front panel by following the removal steps in reverse order.

Paddle in drum is loose at back of drum screw is loose how do i access to tighten ?

You need to get at the outside of the drum to reach those screws. You don't give a brand, but if it's a Whirlpool-made dryer (many are, like the Sears models), this page can help. It shows how to change a belt, and the first few steps explain how to open the machine to get at the drum.

Good luck with the repair, and thanks for using Fixya!

Paddle inside dryer came loose how do we tighten

You have to open up the dryer to expose the clothes drum. Most paddles are fastened by two or three 1/4" sheet metal screws. Look for your lost screw in the dryer or replace it with the same. Use a drop or two of lock-tite to keep screws in place. Good time also to clean out all lint which can become a fire hazard, replace the drum belt and redo all of the screws.

Inside the drum there are three paddles and one has worked it's way lose. What is the name of this part and is it something that will snap in place easily, or must I get professional help installing?

it is called a baffle. two screws hold each in place, and is is common for them to gradually loosen. it is also easy to tighten them back. open the door, there are 4 screws on each side inside door frame, remove them. then pull the front panel from the sides towad you, the pannel will come foward then lift up and set panel aside. there is 1 screw on each side holding the top down, remove them then top hinges up. you will be able to see the drum and as you turn it you can tighten the screws to all 3 baffles, then re-assemble. good luck. shane

Maytag Atlantis MDE6200AYW loose dryer paddle

You might have to remove the back, then the top, but it looks like the paddles are either held on buy a screw from the outside of the drum or they just have clips that lock them to the drum. Once the back is removed, you should be able to see how the top is held on. I think it is screwed or has clips for the back and then you slide it forward to unlock the front tabs. You can follow this if you don;t get a reply
from someone who has worked on this model#. Hope you get it apart ok and fixed by yourself.

Maytag dryer making clanking noise

I had this problem and the cause was a loose screw holding on one of the "paddles" inside the drum. I removed the door, front panel, lifted the top, manually rotated the drum until I saw the screw head which had worked loose and was slapping the side of the dryer. A quick tighten of the screw and the noise was gone.

My dryer squeeks when running

Hi, I've had a similar problem (I think) on my MDG7400 dryer. There was a cyclical squeak, metal against metal. It turned out to be the screw that holds the drum paddle to the drum. It had worked itself loose and was scraping against the inside wall of the dryer. Remove the front door lift the top, and tighten 'er up. Hope that helps.
