Clean bulbs on a D56W136D

Hello. Here are the steps to a perfect cleaning job:
  1. Power down TV and unplug all cables attached to back of TV, including TV power cable. You never want to risk touching components inside the TV that could be hot, including a rear-projection bulb.
  2. 2 Unscrew and remove back cover of TV. Have someone help you if the TV is big or back cover is heavy. Most TVs will unscrew easily, but refer to your TV owners manual for specific instructions.
  3. 3 Locate and unscrew bulbs housing unit. Your owners manual can again be used to find specific instructions on how to properly unscrew bulbs housing unit.
  4. 4 Clean bulb with soft cloth and cotton swabs. Never let your bare hand touch the bulb. The oils on your hands can cause the bulbs to deteriorate prematurely. Be gentle with the cotton swabs to avoid breaking or cracking anything.
  5. 5 Reattach bulbs housing unit.
  6. 6 Reattach the back cover and have someone help you again if you needed help taking the back cover off.
  7. 7 Attach all media devices and power cords.
  8. 8 Power on the TV and begin watching.

Hi,
The coolant inside each of the tubes need to be flushed cleaned and refilled.Over the years of the TV's use, the coolant gets cloudy from heat. usually this kind of service can range from $350-$650+ dollars. Its not an easy job... Call your local TV repair professional to find what they charge to refill coolant. You can CLICK HERE to find a TV repair professional in your area, just type in your zip. I've seen this exact problem before and it was the lamp. Take it out (if in doubt) and look for glass fragments in the reflector. Even if the glass capsule isn't shattered, the bulb can still be bad. This is the easiest failure to visually confirm. A lamp should last between 2 to 3 years depending on the amount of daily use the TV gets. Should a bulb last less than two years the lamp cooling fans may need cleaned. Homes with a dust problem, smokers, pets and open windows are more prone to dust accumulation inside the TV. If you take the lamp out and see dust bunnies inside the lamp housing, the set should be cleaned and fans checked for dust deposits. Every six months or sooner vacuum the rear cover panel and area behind the entertainment furniture.
