High pitched whistling

Try changing refresh frequency, color depth or resolution (wait for the whistle to appear before testing). Admittedly, you might have to give up some image quality - less colors, or less resolution. There is probably a problem in the TV syncing mechanism - if you can, try getting it replaced. "High pitched whistles" in video and TV hardware are usually harbingers of bad news.

Our tv made a loud high pitched noise for a few weeks and then the color went green to then shutting off. Now, when we try to turn on the tv, the light blinks and then it just shuts off and keeps repeating...

Hi, Symptom shows high pitch sound is of color wheel that is not spinning any more so TV stay in protection mode and does not power up. TV requires color wheel replacement.

Super high pitch whistle from tv, only powering it off helps.

Shut it off and unplug. You have a serious HIGH VOLTAGE problem that could cause a fire. Professional repair needed.

Phillips 54 inch rear projection,no picture.

One thing that comes to mind when you say high pitched sound is the HOT ( Horizontal Output Transistor). You may be able to find one at fry's electronics. They are pretty cheap. If you are handy and know something about electronics you may be able to replace it. I am not a TV tech, I have a background in electronics and like to play with them from time to time. Not sure this will help but good luck

TV screen wont turn on but just a loud noise coming from the tv

I think maybe the G-board needs to be replaced. A TV shop will have to repair it. They normally start around $200.00
