Just installed gvag32s graphics card which supports big resolutions but when i try to change resolution it asks if i want to keep the setting then changes it back to 640 by 480!!!

be careful, u can change it to higher resolution like say 1280x1024....when u chose the new resolution..it will keep the resolution for a few sec and show u the result...if it supports....and will ask u to either keep it or go back to ur old setting....if u want to keep it click Apply / OK.....if it does not support then it will give u warning that the setting may damage ur computer etc.....
so be careful

Go to display settings and you must change the video output manually to 480 or less.

ok, try going through all the different video cables till one works, same as the ps3 you have to go into the setting and tell the 360 what type of video setting you want to use, once you find the one that is active then you can go into the setting and change it around - if you have already tried this then the video processor is fried and you need a tek to fix,
keep me posted

Screen resolution

From the Console Settings screen in the System area of the Xbox Dashboard, you can configure the video output of your Xbox 360 console.

Change your display output settings from this screen. Display settings include screen resolution and screen dimension (or aspect ratio, either standard or widescreen).

In some cases you can select an "Optimal Resolution" button, which appears only when Xbox supports the native resolution of the TV or monitor and automatically applies the best setting but that might not work with your tv.

If you are using VGA you must choose from among the following output resolutions: 640 x 480, 848 x 480, 1204 x 720, 1280 x 720, 1280 x 768, 1280 x 1024, 1360 x 768, and 1920 x 1080.  Much like a PC you would want to select a lower resolution (640X480).  That will make your fonts larger.

Screen Format: The default setting is Normal (a standard 4:3 aspect ratio); select Widescreen to change the output aspect ratio to 16:9 if you have a widescreen TV or monitor.  You should select normal and not widescreen for a standard tv.

Hope this helps,

Bob

Can't get my TV to go to 1080i

Your tv is either 1080p or not 1080 compliant. Try 720p or you may be forced to keep it at 480

XBox 360

If you have another television you can try, do that. Maybe there is something wrong with the inputs INTO the T.V. If you don't have another T.V. to try, hook up a DVD player to that same location you were attempting to hook up the 360. If that too doesn't work, you know it's the T.V. If the DVD player does work, check one more thing. Make sure the switch on the actual XBOX 360 cable is set tot he proper switch. You have a choice of 480 or HDMI. If you have a 480 T.V. and have it set to HDMI, I don't think it shows a picture. Hope this helps.
