The "Control Lock", this is actually a safety feature that enables the consumer to lock the control panel to prevent small children from manipulating the controls and accidentally starting the appliance. This can usually be reset and does not require a technician.

With the lock on, the control panel is disabled and you cannot use any of the controls, except the button that unlocks it. Using the STOP or CANCEL buttons will not turn the feature off. It can inadvertently be set following a power outage, leaning against the control panel, or pressing and holding the wrong button. This is usually not an indication of a malfunction.
While you were moving the washer, you may have been pushing on the some of the control panel buttons and locked the control panel.

If this is a Whirlpool manufactured appliance (such as Kenmore Elite, Whirlpool Duet or Maytag Epic), the following link explains how to lock/unlock this feature:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608801-control_panel_lock

These instructions are also printed on the front panel of the appliance and in the owner's manual.

If this does not correct your problem, then you may have a more serious problem than a simple operator control button issue (such as an operator console problem or main control board issue). Please post back and let me know if you need further assistance.

Control locked light on

First remove the plug for 5 minutes and this will reset the system.

Check to see if the light beside the LOCK ICON is lit on the status lights. If it is, then the controls are locked. Press and hold the OPTIONS and SELECT buttons simultaneously until the lock light goes out. This should free up your controls so that the washer will operate normally. If the console will not respond, then you could have a failed control or a stuck button.
