I was given an acer aspire 5000, but when I try to type or just try to move around the desktop it's like the tab key is stuck down. I have lifted the key cover and everything looks fine. Anyone have any suggestions..

Borrow an another keyboard and you will see if the problem is in the keyboard or not.

Fn Key is stuck on, it is not stuck down, however typing has become a problem because there is no way to turn off the Fn key. Tried restarting, roughly 2-3 months old acer aspire


Different laptops have different methods but, I am sorry to suggest, have a look at your manual. It is explained in there.
I don't want to give you the wrong method as it will only confuse matters.

I just put XP Pro on my Acer aspire 5050 and I downloaded all the drivers and my wireless internet will not work.


If You downloaded the correct wifi drivers and still didn't get wireless...
Choose a different series... Try acer aspire 3000 wifidrivers... then Acer Aspire 5000 wifi drivers, if still no luck... Choose the acer ferrari 3000 wifi driver.. or the acer travelmate 5530 wifi driver/..

I've had alot of Acer Aspire models.. including yours... and I too would have to jump around to different models to get all correct drivers,...

Jumping cursor whilst typing on an acer aspire 5315


Is the touchpad active?
It is common that users accidently touches the touchpad while writing and this causes the cursor to "jump"...
Another possibility is that the "TAB" key is jammed...

Acer Aspire 5000 laptop with SiS 760_M760 video driver


The Aspire 5000 actually has a 128mb video card. i am using one right now as a matter of fact. Reboot your acer. when you see the acer logo. press F2 once into the bios screen move to the next tab. High light the 64mb next to the video adaptor and high light 128mb.

Acer won't go on standby


To put the system in to hibernation from run menu:-

1]Make sure that the system is hibernation enabled. To confirm that, Click the Start button, go to Run menu and type in Powercfg.cpl and click OK. In the Power Options Propertiesclick Hibernate tab and make sure that Enable hibernation option is checked. Click OK/Apply.

2]Now Click the Start button, go to Run menu and type in %windir%\System32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState and click OK.

Please note that your hand is moving around the mouse touch pad and that is very sensitive part.Thats is giving you the problem.Please dont touch the mouse pad while typing.
