The valve is stuck in backwash. Generally the reason for this is a bad piton/sealpack, it needs to be replaced. If your RustMaster is 18 years it is time for a rebuild. That is an exceptionally long time for a RustMaster iron filtration system to have run, unless it has been rebuilt already.

Have an Evinrude 6hp model 6502 that has been in dry storage for 25 years. Motor won't turn. Any suggestions on how to fix? Before it was stored the outboard was cared for

it is a very old unit and the problems will make it very costly to repair
outboards run in water and so there is moisture that gets to the engine and bearings which would probably have rusted up
water pump impeller will be stuck to the hosing and will tear apart if you get it to turn
rings will be rusted in the bore
you could pull it all down and do a list of items to replace
it may be best to use it as an anchor

Check pump housing and plate for wear, make sure aluminium housing not corroded under plate. Suggest fitting electric drill to drive shaft and emerse lower unit in bucket of water.make sure drill doesn't get wet.is motor going into gear, maybe splines are rusted off in crankshaft, could also have holes in inner exhaust side plate

Keeps running

Hello, The first thing that you would have to be able to tell is which cycle of the dishwasher is it that keeps running. Most of the time when this happens the unit keeps running on the drain cycle in which the unit either detects a leak in the system that the pump is trying to clear the water from the unit leaking water out of the machine. Another reason would be if you had a clogged drain line, In order to check for an issue with a clogged drain line you would first go under you sink. You would then disconnect the drain line to the exit water port either on your disposal,or sink piping. You would then visually inspect the inside of the exit port where the drain line connects to. Alot of times I find that this area does get gunked up with debris from the disposal. After assuring that this area was functioning properly you would then have to de-install the dishwasher from under your counter in order to check the rest of the drain line as well as the pump itself. You can check the rest of the drain line by disconnecting the line from the pump cleaning this connection end point and blowing air through the line which would tell you if there were any clogs in the line at all. If there were no clogs in the drain line you would next look at the pump itself and have to assure that the impellar inside the pump is spining. If it were not then you would replace the drain pump. I will await your reply as to which cycle you think that the unit is constantly running in before further diagnosing your issue at hand. I await your reply
Thank you
Rick

Need to replace fuel pump on 91 lumina

Pump is in fuel tank. It is a miserable job, do not attempt unless you are experienced at frustration. The fuel lines will likely be seized as well as the tank straps. Also the sending unit will be rusted together and will have to be replaced, the tank likely will be rusted under straps and will be no good to reinstall.

I have a grundfos mq3-35b, you turn on the tap pump goes on, then after about 30 seconds it goes off for about 10 seconds and goes back on again, this keeps repeating as long as you have the tap running,...

The control unit is faulty, I had that problem twice.. I have now bypassed the control unit and use a normal pump pressure switch to control..works fine..The Grundfos company at first said I had to have air in the lines then admitted the control assy. was at fault. after two new units in three years I did away with the control unit.

We have a hayward pump and the motor keeps stopping and tripping the circuit breaker. What could it be?

The motor might be too powerful for the line it's on, (usually a pump should be on a somewhat dedicated line) no Ac's running on same breaker.
An extension cord longer then 6ft is also a suspect in not allowing the pump the draw enough power.
The pump may not be drawing enough water, overheating and tripping the breaker, or the motor might have rust on the inside causing the armature not to spin freely, and shut off. (usually motor will make a high pitch noise) while running)
