Question about General Electric GE SmartWater Household Water Filtration System - GNWH38F
After its lit it stays on for a while and pilot dies again...had gas co out they said all ok
What color is the pilot flame? Yellow/orange or blue? Look at the tip of the thermocouple where the pilot flame is heating. It should be a smooth round tip. If the tip is partially burn't off or ridgid, replace the thermocouple. After the pilot is initially lit, does the burner come on too? Take a flashlight and look up inside the water heater above the burner. Do you see a lot of soot build-up? Light a match at the top of the water heater at the draft diverter (it attaches the venting to the water heater) and blow it out and see if the smoke gets sucked into the diverter or blown out. It should get sucked in. If not you may have vent blockage or soot build-up.
