the defrost cycle happens 1-2 times in 24 hours usually, and lasts 20-30 minutes.at which time the cooling process starts again.you may or may not hear the sizzle during the 20-30 minutes.if the frezer-freezes and the fresh food section is cold enough its probably o.k.

I have a Maytag MZD2766GEW ref/freezer that the freezer works, but the fridge is warm. I removed the back panels and the coils were all froze over. I am trying to test the Defrost Control Board. How do I...

in most cases its not the defrost board test the defrost element/s make sure they are not blown test at both ends like a fuse you should get a resistence rating of around .2 ohm if the curcuit is open then the defrost elements need replacing maytag have very reliable defrost control boards they dont fail all that often

best of luck

Frezer keeps frezzing

If the freezer is icing up your defrost timer or the heating element may be bad. If the fridge doesnt go into defrost mode you will get frost on the back of th freezer and ice will freeze up on the coils eventually it will not cool the fridge side very well at all. If there is an ice block let me know also is the fan in the freezer running?

Freezer and drain freezing up

you either have a blocked drain in the freezer or a bad, failing defrost element, timer.

If you have a manual for you fridge you can locate the place to check for blockage in the drainline. I you dont have a manual you can check online at searspartdirect and locate one.

The heating element for the defroster is located right beneath the freezer coils so you need to take the inner panels off the inside of the freezer to get to those.

You can replace the heating element and timer fairly easily. You should be able to buy both of them for around 90-100 bucks if necessary. But try clearing the draining first. You can test the line by defrosting the fridge and pouring some water into the drain and see how quickly it goes into the drainpan below the fridge.

Good luck and be careful.

Whirlpool Wrn38rwg6 frige has decided to not cool properly

My first thought is it defrosting? Look into rear of the freezer and see if ice is building up on rear wall of freezer. If yes manually defrost and let me know what you find. If no I would want you to feel compressor for overheating or look and see if a fan has stopped working while compressor is running. Sea Breeze

Whirlpool S21S4D Ice maker stopped working Now fridge stopped working Frezer OK Defrosted ice on condenser and fridge working for time being! Do you think its the mother board?

You have a defrost problem going on. Either the defrost timer, the defrost t-stat or the defrost heater. Remove the back freezer wall and you will see the evaporator coils. This is where the heater and t-stat are located. One of these is more than likely the problem.

Frezer side working but fridge side not working and all my food gone off

Your refrigerator has possibly stoped defrosting and this is the symptoms and first signs. The defrost control board is located inside the temperature control panel and usually is the part that causes the defrost to stop. You need to unplug and inspect or defrost your freezer. Have a look at the defrost elements to make sure they are not burned out, The part number for the defrost control is W10135899 Let me know if you have questions or need more assistance . at appliancepartsse@yahoo.com Thanks, Sea Breeze

Servis fridge / frezer not colling or freezing

i would firstly do a complete defrost- incase there has been a fault with the frost free system. if after a full defrost it runs ok then there was a fault somewhere in the defrost system including either defrost heater, cut out or possible jammed circulation fan.

No cold coming to fridge or freezer

I woud say your heater has malfunctioned and it has frozen your fridge, you will need to remove the inside plastic wall on your freezer side if its side by side and get a blow dryer and melt all the ice if this is the case. You would need to change the heating element which defrosts your freezer/fridge everyday to prevent freezing up. You can get this heating element from an appliance store where all the appliance repair people get them specific to your model. Its less than a hundred bucks.
