We use Component Video out to input (3 RCA plugs, Red, Blue & Green) along with RCA Audio out to input (2 RCA plugs for stereo - 1 for mono). This doesnt work. Must be that we have to switch off TV sound and somehow turn on Digital audio sound with remote?

In order of picture and sound quality -- from best to worst:

1. The best way to connect, assuming your TV and A/V Receiver and/or Cable Box have the jacks, is to use a HDMI cable ( this cable is for both sound and video).

2. Use Component Video out to input (3 RCA plugs, Red, Blue & Green) along with RCA Audio out to input (2 RCA plugs for stereo - 1 for mono).

3. Use S-Video out to input (1 din plug) along with RCA Audio out to input (2 RCA plugs for stereo - 1 for mono).

4. Use Video out to input (1 RCA plug, yellow) along with RCA Audio out to input (2 RCA plugs for stereo - 1 for mono).

Be sure to select the correct inputs on your TV and Audio/Video receiver when you are watching TV. For example if you have connected your TV to HDMI 1 and DVD to HDMI 2, you will not see or hear anything if you don't select the correct input on your TV and A/V receiver for the input you want to see and hear.

Detailed connection instructions will be found in your owners' manuals.

Hope this helped you. :)

Connect to dvd player

On the back panel of your tv you will see two audio inputs labeled AUDIO TO HI-FI. Plug your surround sound audio jacks, ( red and white ) into that. Plug your video jack ( yellow ) into what ever number input you are going to use for dvd, if needed. This will allow you to watch tv and hear it in your surround sound. You should also go to menu- then- audio option and turn off your tv internal speakers, this will allow your tv remote to control your volume of surround sound. Hope this helped.

How do I get HDMI off of my RCA surround system/DVD player? I have it all hooked up right but I don't have a picture and the DVD player is set up for HD but I don't have HD TV.

you have to select the correct input on your TV and surround system. for example select HDMI 1 or two on the TV and DVD or what ever input you have it connected to on the surround system.

Read the instruction manuals for more information.

Good luck!

Surround sound works with ht-x30 dvd player when playing a dvd but cannot get surround sound with tv only

Is the surround sound integral to the dvd player and not connected to the tv. if it is connected to the tv either by scart or phono leads. do you have to select another input from the surround sound. such as aux or tv

No Picture from Component Input #1 or #2 but do have audio via Surrond Sound

Simplest thing would be that your component cables are not HU'd correctly. Having them reversed would do this.

No sound

I suppose you have a surround sound system that is now not functioning? They must have disconnected your audio out cables from your television to your surround sound system. Make sure your main audio out channel on your television is connected to AV1 in on your surround sound system. It is probably an RCA cable (red and white). Then when you play your TV, make sure the audio is set on AV1 for your surround sound system by pressing the function button until AV1 is on the display. Let me know if this helps.

Poor connection with DVD and tv

Try using the RCA split connect cables, it is a very short Y cable having one male and two female on the same connection. Then you just plug into them, you will delete one cable for each connection using this.
