Question about HP CPQ175KB Keyboard
It sounds to me like a mechanical problem actually ...probably it is ....and in this case you can not do much ..but ..either try to open it and fix it ..(if it is a regular keyboard) or ..just buy another one ..cause this is not such an expensive device ..and sometimes it is not worth repairing ..
Ok...If the button is stuck down you just unscrew it from the bottom ...(all the screws..including the 3 ones from the mini-board..and open ir...be sure you do this operation on a large table...cause the buttons are auctioned by some little rubber units..(the ones that are actually need replacing)and those will probably will scatter around if you are not careful...
All you have to do ..is to be sure that the 3 plastic sheets inside are not weat ...and do not have any sticky stuff on them (clean them and the contacts between them ) and after that use the little rubber suport from some button you never use...like pause or insert..and replace the ones that are damaged in the shift key ....Put 'em back together and it will work ..
if you do not think that it worth the trouble..just buy another one cause it only cost you around how much you spent here on the site or a little more..
If it is a laptop ..things are much complicated..to get it out you have to remove the cover from teh screen hinges..,practically the part in front of the keyboard ..after that the keyboard will slide a little forward and up..and it have a ribbon contact that should be unplugged...and the new one plugged and snapped in place ..thats all ..I will link you how to change one if you need..cause for a laptop one you can not fix any mechanical problems..
