I have a flat screen tv the picture work's but no sound the model number is gv47lfhdtv10a

If it is connected to external speakers, then make sure they are on the correct outputs terminals for the mode you are in. Most TVs have several outputs for speakers. Quickest method is to move them to the other outputs until you get sound.
if they are internal speakers, check your balance settings to make sure they are not accidentally balanced off.

Purchased a new Sony Bravia TV KDL32R420B. Picture perfect but no sound from Right speaker. Please help!!

Check whether the balance control is settings. Go to the audio menu to both TV and DVD player; and make sure that it is set to Centre position; to both the devices. Still there is no audio with one channel, check it with an other know good disc. Still you can't get sound from one channel, the audio output section to the TV circuit should be checked. Contact any service technician.
Check the speaker/s first. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience.

I can't hear the tv i can see the picture

Hello
Either your TVs speaker or its audio output IC has damaged. To confirm which has the troubld, do the following. Place your ears very near to the speaker side of the cabin, and switch ON the tV by its MAINS POWER ON?OFF SWITCH; not by remote control handset. If you can hear a 'thumb' sound from the speaker side of your tV, confirm that the speaker is OK. If so, feed the tV with some extenal audio source; like DVD or CD player to its audio in sockets at its back, play a CD or DVD in the player, select the audio source of your TV to appropriate audio source and listed whether you can hear the sound. If there is sound from this source, make sure that the audio filterins section of your TVs main board has damaged. If there is still no sound from the speakers, make sure that the Audio Output IC of your TV has damaged. OK.

NO SOUND

Hello
First check whether the sound is muted or not. If it is muted, release the mute. If it is not muted and still there is no sound output from the TV, its speaker may have got damaged. To check the speaker, place your ear very near to the speaker side of the TV, and switch it ON by its POWER ON/OFF switch [Not by remote control power switch]; and listen whether there is a 'thumb' sound comes from the speaker or not. If there is; the audio output IC inside had damaged and shoul be replaced. If there is no 'thumb' sound from the speaker, speaker itself is damaged and sould be replaced. If you want anymore assistance, feel free to get me by Fixya. OK.

Hello
What you have informed by the shop owner is correct. The set has only mono option, but hanve a surround ON/OFF and Bass enchancer ON/OFF options are there in the sound adjustment menu. Just press Menu to display the Menu screen and then press Forward or Backward buttons to select the Audio adjustment screen. You can't see a "Balance" option there. If the TV has stereo sound this Balance option will be there. OK.

Right speaker perfect. Left speaker sounds like someone is talking through a kazoo.

Hello

Just check the left side speaker for its voice coil trouble. If voice coil has got damaged, this kind of fault will occure. If so replace the speaker with an identical one, both in size and impedence [ie resistsnce in Oms]. Connect an other good speaker of any type to the left speaker wire, and check whether the sound though it is perfect or not. If it is perfect, there is no doubt that the speaker inside the TV is damged. If the connected outside speaker also gives disorted sound, the Audio Output IC inside the Tv is faulty. Have to replace it with same type and number.
Before doing all these, go to the sound control section through your TVs menu options, and be sure that the balance control is set to mid position.
Ok.

I have a panosonic plasma tv when i switch it on it tell me there is a speaker short and then switches it self of model number pdp507xda help

It's the internal circuitry problem. Try muting it and put audio connection to other speakers if it repeats, your TV audio system is internally dying.the audio connections has to be checked and faulty components should be replaced.
1. Speaker short.
Open it up and check the speaker connections. ONLY if you have basic skills working on electronics and don't have a warranty.
2. Sound Volume "Leveler"
Look in your sound option menu for a sound "balancer" option and turn it off.
If this doesn't work disable the sound and invest in that surround sound system (external speakers solution of your choice)

-----------
try this.for first unplug the main power cord of the tv for couple of minutes and then reconnect it.also before reconnecting the power cord of the tv again remove all the external device wires connected at its back such as dvd player/vcr etc etc.just connect only tv wire and check out.if still the same problem then its quite possible that the capacitors and ic on the audio circuit board are getting short in between so the circuit is not getting completed and cutting in between so the tv starts and turns off. if the tv is connected to externalk speakers then check out without connecting the external speakers and see whether it works.if it works that means tv is perfect.but if tv is having inbuilt speakers that its confirm problem with inter audio circuit of tv.so try connecting external speakers at the back of tv and check out.
--------------
This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya.

I plug in headphones, but sound still comes out of TV speakers

This information was found on the Dynex website: (http://www.dynexproducts.com/pc-680-23-dynex-32-720p-flat-panel-lcd-hdtv-matte-black.aspx) in the frequently asked question section on page 7. If the solution below dos not work for you. You can either go to the website by copying the web address and putting it in your address bar. Once there you can use the e-mail function to talk to customer support. You can also use the Dynex customer support telephone number 1-800-305-2204 between the hours of 7am and 12 am CST. Give them the model number of your television and the problem you are having with the use of the headphones. I hope this information helps you solve your problem. How do I get headphones to work with my TV? o Connect the headphone cable to the headphone jack on the side of your TV. o The sound will be heard through both the headphones and on the TV speakers. o Press Mute to hear sound only through the headphones. o Use the volume buttons on the remote to adjust the volume level. o You must remember to press mute again to hear sound through speakers. It will not automatically come on when you unplug the headphones.
