ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication, or maybe your drum belt has slipped off of the idler arm pulley.
If you have a front loading machine,

Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer.
Be REAL CAREFUL not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt. Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm pulley and motor.
Now is a good time to check the belt to see if it has slipped off of the idler arm pulley and also to check the belt condition for wear.
Be sure to note the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt.
Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots or wear on them replace them.
If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem.

I have a maytag dryer that sometimes when I hit the start button will start and run for only a few minutes and stop and wont start again for a while and does a humming noise when it does star why?

Sounds like the motor is going into thermal overload (Getting hot) it may be caused by the motor itself, or could be overloaded by bearings or fan etc

Dryey makes loud noise on startup

Check for excellent air flow. Could be an object caught in fan.

Why does my GE 7 Cycle Dryer makes noise when I turn the start button, but does not run the dryer

The start button just engages it to run. See if the wires are still on it. Turn off your breaker, then back on. If still not working, then replace starter switch.

Dryer doing nothing

Your dryer is sensing a problem, but not being specific about it. Check that you can turn the drum first to make sure that it hasn't wegged in place. But it sounds more like a control board - from the limited indications you are giving us.

Kenmore 64112 dryer wont start when I hit the start button

Check house fuses or circuit breaker.
Pull 220V cord from wall outlet and inspect the gold prongs.
If you see any burnt areas on the prongs the outlet is bad.

If the unit makes no noise when you press the start button check the dryer door switch and make sure it clicks when depressed.
Sometimes the door switch arm can break off so when the door closes
the door switch cannot be activated.

If you hear a growl noise when you press the start button 2 things...
1. The motor is bad and needs replacing.
2. An object fell down the lint trap and is preventing the motor from turning.

Also if the dryer vent has been plugged causing the dryer to over heat a saftey fuse may have blown and needs replacement.

Dyer was grinding, then won't run

Sounds to me like you motor has froze up. Is there any smell coming from the dryer? The fuse would not cause this. A fuse would make the dryer do nothing when you hit the start button.
