Plug it in, the battery is probably dead. If it still does the same thing while plugged in, start again and push the F11 button to enter "setup". (F function button may be different than what I stated).
At start up, watch the very bottom (left to center) screen for the command button for setup.
Watch quick, and have your finger ready. You may have to restart again to try again.
Once in setup, press F9, and click (press enter) to save default settings). Do this for each menu (left to right) until you come to the Exit Menu. Select Exit Menu, and select Quit and Save changes.
After this, if it still doesn't start, restart again.
This time, watch for another command to select start up options. Once you find this command push it, (will be an F command as well) and wait for the start up list to appear.
Once this has popped up, select Start in Safe Mode.
Once in safe mode, click start, All Programs, Accesories, System Tools, Disk Defragmenter.
After it defrags (if it lets you); follow this same menu (or if you have an icon for it, find your anti virus program and run it.
Once your have performe these two actions, shut down the computer and let it sit for about 45 seconds. Unplug it during his duration to pull any excess charge from the computer. This will allow the Processor to completely shut down.
Also, if you have one, (if not invest) always keep the fan under your laptop. Laptops are known for overheating as they have very small fans inside that only cool the processor. Other components need to be cooled as well, and thus they made the external "lap" fans.
NEVER leave the laptop on a bed, couch,or any type of surface that will obstruct the airflow of the fan. This not only damages the fan and your computer, it is a fire hazard.
If after this the computer still does not start, run and functon, you may need to re-install your OS (operating system).
If you have the disc, insert it into the drive and restart the computer (will need to be on to open). Simply push the power button, open drive, insert disc, and close. If the disc doe not automatically run, restart the computer so it does.
Once it starts, (disc loads) it should give you the option to "re-install" or "repair"the OS.
If these two options are available, choose "repair". Let the repair process proceed completely and follow the direction carefully. This option allows you to keep personal files and such on the computer without completely uninstalling and reinstalling the OS.
If the "repair" option is not available, and only "re-install" is available, choose this, as it will give you the option to save "keep" personal files.
This will re-install the OS to it's original configuration, while keeping your personal files. NOTE: this is for windows xp, windows 98, vista home premium.
If you operate another OS, please indicate as such in your (or a new post) post, so an appropriate Expert can assist you.
Also be advised that any addtional (non-manufacture) programs will need to be re-installed later. These will not be saved during the installation process, so make sure you have all the required discs for each that you want to put back on.
If you need any further assistance please let me know.
