Question about Navman PiN 570 GPS Receiver

1 Answer

Pin 570 wont boot after hard reset

This was working fine until it wouldn't switch off with the power button the side. so i pushed the soft reset button on the base of the unit but still no fix, so i moved the hard reset switch to the left then back to the right, now the display lights up with some text on the top

DOWNLOAD IMG

i presume it is waiting for some sort of operating system or boot image to be loaded into this navman pocket pc
even if the supplied navman MMC card with the maps is inserted then nothing happens.

if i plug the sync / charger usb cable into the pc, then a new device is found, but drivers or software cant be found for it on the supplied CD's or the microsoft site.
the new device comes up as

SEC S3c2410x Test B/D

i installed microsoft active sync off the supplied CD onto the pc, but it wont see the navman device connected to the usb port. the newly installed SmartST software cannot see it either.

I cant find any support on the navman web site for this problem.

any ideas?

Ta, this put me on the right track!

LEFT IT ON for about 2 hours TILL almost all POWER WENT AWAY FROM UNIT with the DOWNLOAD IMG message on the otherwise blank lighted up screen

Then I moved the hard reset switch to the left then back to the right, the Navman logo showed and it booted and loaded the smart st from the MMC memory card. it warned me about a low battery, and said something about registering on the CD.

i plugged it into the charger straight away
i plugged the usb into the pc and it was recognised as a "windows powered pocket pc 2003"
Microsoft active sync now sees it as well.

everything seems to be ok now.
strange how the restart didn't happen with a fully charged battery...

How do i do a hard reset on a magellen maestro 4040?

  • 1 Slide the Magellan GPS unit's powericon1.png switch to the off position, if your GPS has a two-way slide-style switch. Hold the switch in the off position for 8 seconds or more to reset the device.
  • 2 Slide the switch to the reset position if your GPS has a three-way switch. These switches feature "Reset," "Off" and "On" labels. Hold the switch on the reset position for 10 seconds to initiate a reset.
  • 3 Inspect your GPS for a reset pin hole if the unit has a push-down power button rather than a switch -- check the bottom and sides of the device for a pin-sized hole. Insert a pin or a straightened paperclip into the hole, pushing until you feel a slight pop. Hold the pin or clip down for 10 seconds and the GPS will reset.

    Hello,

Try performing a soft reset or a hard reset to the unit.
The soft reset is done by holding down the power button for at least 10 seconds and allowing the unit to power back on.
A hard reset is done by pressing and holding the bottom right hand corner of the screen while the power is off and then pressing the power button on. A pop up will appear asking to confirm the reset.
The hard reset will erase the user data, so it is advisable to save the data if possible.

    Hello,

Doing a soft reset on the nuvi will usually get the nuvi up and running.
If there is a reset button on the bottom, press and hold it until the nuvi powers back on. If it does not have the reset button on the bottom, slide and hold the power switch to the left for at least 10 seconds.
Also running the Garmin WebUpdater and reloading the latest update will resolve most issues.
    Download and Install WebUpdater.

My Edge 305s GPS is not working. Everything else runs perfectly fine, it just will not acquire any satellites. I tried a soft reset. It won't let me hard reset though.

Edge 205 or 305 often crash, then impossible to power on again.

Here is the way to reset the Garmin edge :

Soft reset : hold mode and lap/reset buttons for 10 seconds
Hard reset : device should be powered down, hold start and mode buttons for 3 seconds then pulse press the lap/reset button.

After soft reset, you need to hold start button for up to 10 secs before it starts.

After hard reset, you will loose all your data, including profiles

Hard reset is not very easy, so follow carefully instructions above.

Now simple advice, did you check in your parameters that the GPS transceiver is turned on ?
There is a mode with GPS off, don't ask why ...

Mine has gone into the looping/flashing Palm Screen and then displays the hard reset do you want to erase everything. I fixed it by pushing the up button when it gave me the chance to delete everything and it fixed it.

You'll have to do a hard reset. Push the reset button, then hold the power button until the Palm Power appear and then release the power button. Next it will ask if you want to erase the data. I hate to said this but select yes. No will not work. Then after the inital set up run a HotSync.
