The root cause for this is the power supply.

In deep detail: The output capacitor of the power supply causes this issue.
I think Toshiba/ Lite ON didn't consider the aging effect of the output capacitor.
You should replace the output capacitor to fix this issue.

If any one suggest you to replace the power supply don't go there. It may cost you around $ 100-200 while the capacitor will not cost you more than a dollor or two.

To change it you need to disassemble TDP-S8, in the power supply, you can find the electrolytic capacitor 3300uF/10V.

You need to replace this with any electrolytic capacitor with the range of 2000uF~4000uF/10~16V.

For more information on how to change the same you can download the service manual from some websites which may cost you around $5 or so.

Then you can disassemble the projector. To change the capasitor you need to do soldering work with the new capacitor.

It may take around 4-6 hours to complete this task.

Thanks
Jimmy

All i am asking you is to replace the capacitor. Once you do that and you will find how good the solution is.

    Thanks

Since you see a the power button light up green there is a chance that the power supply is still good. Try updateing the firmware,u can get it from the infocus website. If that doesn't work then something is wrong with the power supply.

Hi, unplug the Projector for Few Minutes, say 15 minutes, and then Turn it ON. If problem Persists, the lamp needs to be replaced and the lamp timer reset, also check the colour wheel. You can also refer to the Manual.

Take care

When you say the lamp needs to be replaced, do you mean the bulb?

We just changed to a new bulb, and after that it wouldn't turn on.

I tried what you suggested yesterday, and still not working.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks.

I have an optima hd180 that will not power up. The projector was indicating a bad bulb, so I replaced that with a new one. Now it still will not power up and the fan does not come on either.

Problem w/ OEM bulb, it causes a lot of issues from my experience. Your ballast might have gone bad, hopefully it's just that. Check the voltage output of the ballast, make sure you're getting the proper amount.
