It is quite possible the indoor coil is frozen up. This can be caused by dirty filter, dirty coil or low on freon. Turn ac to "off" and fan switch to "on" for 45 minutes. Then try again and see if air flow improves.

When set to heat it blows out cool air.

Chances are your portable unit is a reverse cycle unit...If so, the leaving air temp in heating mode is not usually much warmer than room temp with 85 degrees F just about the maximum under PERFECT design conditions. A small portable in a large cold room may only be discharging 75 degree air, which is going to feel cold.

If your unit is NOT a reverse cycle unit, the heating source (probably electric resistance) is either not coming on at all or a portion of it is not coming on due to a defective element, burnt wire or a control issue.

Rv air conditioner how cold should the air blowing from ceiling vents be?

Do you have two rooftop a/cs, ideally any a/c you like to see temps from the inlet duct to the outlet vent at least 15-20 degrees difference in temp, check your filters, that front air works twice as much as the rear, plus cooking and heat load on it can be more than the rear, those units are a glorified window air and cost 10 times more because it is for an rv,i worked on r v's for 20 years, nowadays they are throwaways ,nobody likes to repair them, could be low on refrigerant and if it has a leak it cost tooooo much to repair, sorry but i speak the truth!

We just turned on our central air conditioner last night. today the temp of the house was 80 degrees. someone in the household placed the tempature on 70 degrees cool on auto. we have not felt any air...

Did you hear the indoor unit running (the fan blowing)? If so, there's a good chance that either the filter is plugged or more likely, the evaporator coil is iced up and preventing any air from flowing into the dwelling.

This points to a refrigeration issue with the unit - possibly a leak or low refrigerant charge.

You should turn the A/C off and leave it off for a day. Then just turn the indoor unit fan on by selecting the fan "on" setting on your thermostat. If you feel air coming out of the vents, then the evaporator coil was probably frozen.

If you are not an HVAC tech, it's time to call for professional help.

I would say that you are Right.... Sounds like that is it. It's only cooling good lower temp. because it is lower temp. check the temp. of the air coming out. should be about 48 to 55 % anywhere in there is where it should be. But keep in mind the cooler the house the cooler the air will get coming out..

My A/C (Carrier weathermaker 8000 hybrid) is not cooling properly

set the t-stat low and let it run for 5 minutes , stick a thermometer in the return air closest to the unit as possible until you get a good reading , then stick the thermometer in the cold air supply again closest to the indoor unit as possible let sit until it stops going down in temp.
this is called your temp difference and it should be atleast a 14deg. F difference from in to out. if its lower you have a refrigerant problem, Let me know how it goes.

Kitchenaid KSRA25IL Freezer working Fine - Refrigerator not

many times when a unit has a defrost problem the coils freeze up and do not allow the fresh food side to cool properly...check for a build up of ice on the inside back wall of the freezer compartment. if there is a build up of ice, you have a defrost problem. Also, check to make sure the evaporator fan in the freezer is blowing the air into the fresh food side.

Air handler only blows air for 3-5 minutes before shut off & not cycling frequently

Sounds like it could be a very weak run capacitor on the blower motor. Run capacitors are sized specifically to the needs of the motor. When a run cap gets weak, the motor trys to compensate for it by drawing more power. More power draw = more heat in the motor, then the motor will overheat and shut off to protect itself. When the motor cools off it will automatically restart and run until it overheats again. Keep in mind that I am a technician that normally diagnoses equipment in a hands on manner. There are many practices and concepts that transcend all air conditioning systems but it is a constantly evolving industry. I live in south eastern WA and I don't see Amana units except as window units. It is possible to have something else causing this problem (faulty thermostat, failing thermal relay(if used), problem with electronic controls(if used)) there are a lot of potential variables
