Question about Nikon COOLPIX P90 Digital Camera

My computer stopped recognizing my Nikon and won't

My computer stopped recognizing my Nikon coolpix p90. Auto play won't open and when I manually open transfer, nothing happens. I have cleared my files and have 1GB free memory. My USB port works with other items. Nikon can't seem to help with the fix. Any suggestions?

Have you considered getting a card reader?

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can continue using the software you've been using so far.

No. In fact today is the first I've heard about card readers. As long as I can download my pictures to the same spot I currently do, then I'm willing to give it a try. But, that seems to be the "standard" answer for this type of question and it doesn't really answer as to what the problem is. Do you know why this is happening?

I'm afraid I can't answer that question without knowing more about your setup. Are you using a Mac or a Windows PC? What version? What software are you using for the connection?

Having gone a month with no further response, I assume this is no longer a problem.

Where can I buy start up disc for nikon coolpix P90 camera

You can download the current versions of all (free) Nikon software from here.

You don't need any software in order to use your camera.

You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

I HAVE A NIKON COOLPIX P90,HOW DO I TRANSFER PICTURES TO MY COMPUTER AND THEN EMAIL THEM?

Do you have the usb cable that came with the camera? If so plug that into your computer and your computer should them recognize it and give you instructions. After your files are saved to your computer add them as an attachment to your email and send.
