Fan runs but will not strike a arc

The fan should be running on 120v, or one leg of the 220v. Something could be wrong with the other leg of the 220, short, bad contact, etc.

I have a Kenmore electric range with burners not a flat top. The clock and the oven light work. The ovven and the burners do not work. I have reset the breaker. Could one side of a breaker burn out? Thxs

Yes, one side of a double pole circuit breaker could go bad, but unless you live in a really old house it isn't likely. Instead of just replacing the circuit breaker, $30+, you might want to check with your neighbors and borrow a multimeter to check the outlet to see if you have 120 volts on each leg of your outlet (which makes up the 240 volts you need). If you have 120 volts on each leg then your breaker and outlet are functioning.

Some ranges have an internal fuse that controls the heating elements. Suggest you go to www.searspartsdirect.com and plug in the model # off the equipment id tag (on rear panel or on oven frame) and check to see if there is a fuse or fuseable link.

Ancient (1971) Frigidaire Cookmaster electric Compact 30 Range/Oven, model number RBG-533N, has two surface mounted red indicator lamps; one for the oven & one for the burners. The surface burner...

The stove has 4 burner switches with a # 2 terminal on each switch. This contact is similiar on all four switches. One of the switches # 2 contact is stuck. The burner switch should disconnect both legs of the 240 volt circuit, one leg through the # 2 terminal and one leg through the thermostat built into the burner switch. Disconnect the pilot lamp wire on each switch unti the light goes off and then replace that burner switch. This should correct the problem

We have a twenty year old electirc jenn-air range with vented cooktop. the oven and range top both stopped working. digital clock only worked when light was turned on. repair man said it was not geting...

The problem may well be a loose NEUTRAL wire to the range. At the wire terminal on the range check for power from each supply leg(L1 to N) and (L2 to N) to neutral(should read 120 volts) and across each power leg (L1 to L2) should read 220 volts.
If you in fact have 220 volts into the range with good neutral contact the problem is a bad neutral(ground) in the wiring harness inside the range.

Upper and lower oven elements

deosnt appear to be a thermal fuse, or an over limit thermo on this particular unit. should be straight foward wiring, first ck incoming power, black to white 110,red to white 110, then red to black 220v. if thats not what you have you have electricl prob still. 110v feeds one leg of bake element, second leg comes from clock assy when bake is started( a relay closes sending power to second leg of element.good luck
